***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Looks nice in Red, doesn't have the tacky fake metal look of the blue.

From watching Samsung adverts and the heavy S3 promotion they seem to want to make it as ubiquitous as an iPhone - otherwise most of the features which focus on sharing and connectivity are pointless. Just don't see it happening though, they'll stop this push soon and then we'll be waiting for the S4. Android phones are made to be abandoned and divided.

I've been offered one of these in exchange for my One X and another £80. Sounds reasonable, yeah?

Is there a Jelly Bean ROM for the S3 yet? I've been running one on my One X and I'm not sure I'd want to go back.

Totally worth it.

CM10 (JB) is fully working, with just a few small issues left to be ironed out really.

Got CM10 installed, but Camera app is buggered. Says cannot connect to the camera. I read about this on their forums but hoped it would be ok. Worked fine earlier.

So, can anyone recommend an alternative camera app from the Play Store? Many thanks.

If anyone missed it, Mike1986 has released Android Revolution HD for the Galaxy S III.

He's probably one of the best known HTC ROM guys around, he basically just tweaks the stock firmware to make it better, there are no visual changes, but usually battery life/speed/stability improvements.

I'm going to try it shortly, it's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797334

I've just upgraded to that firmware but for some reason my Voodoo Sim unlocker doesnt seem to work on it... How would I go about installing a stock firmware? Is it just a matter of using Odin and flashing a stock firmware?

It's based on the latest firmware, and the SIM unlocker doesn't work with the newer firmwares.

Just flash whichever one you want with Odin, as you said.

Really liking this theme I've now got combination from this thread:

I chose the combination:
1: MOD: 15% pulldown transparency, black status bar.
2: THEME: Blue toggle colours.
3: BATTERY: Blue circle battery.

Other good thing about it: retains long press toggle to enter that item's settings, can customise via quick panel app.

Also, a friend gave me some 3M carbon wrap:

I'm glad I like the white, the blue is just off. There you go, no objectivity in this thread. :p:D

I would have preferred black tbh if im honest. Most people i meet say "oh is that a Galaxy S3 .... Jesus its MASSIVE" Im quite big & old enough to handle it.:D Im very stubborn but it appears that size and colour are absolutely key to the general success of a phone. Unless its made by Apple then its just "wrong" period !

So what's the consensus these days as to which colour to go for? I must admit I kind of like both!

Blue for me. Reasons:

1. It looks black most of the time, which is what most people would have preferred to start with, and when it does look blue (in certain lighting conditions) it makes a nice change anyway.

2. The black border around the edge of the screen isn't as obvious, on white devices (not the One X though, as the front is black) it makes the screen look a bit 'off' and annoys me.

I'd ultimately have been happy with either though, but they were the two reasons I got the blue.

How are you picking the colour if you're swapping it for the One X plus £60? Or are you just buying one? ;)

I've got a couple of different irons on the fire, both work out the same ish but one is white, one blue.
