What have I missed?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, I've not had a gaming rig for about 4 years now, and the past 3 years I've hardly looked into gaming apart from tedious console gaming. I'm just wondering if there's any really good games I've missed or should try? My current list consists of Diablo 3.. That's about it, and I feel there must be more that's been released that would be worth my time? Also what's coming soon, I know Planetside 2 (OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG) and Guild Wars 2 are coming, but is there anything else?

Cheers chaps.

Torchlight 2
Watch dogs
Orcs must die 2
Witcher 2
Portal 2
Borderlands 2
Natural selection 2
Dishonoured

(I'm starting to see a trend with the number 2)

Witcher 2
Battlefield 3
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim (totally different game on PC)
Terraria or Minecraft (can play both, prefer Terraria myself)
TRIBES Ascend
Torchlight 2
Borderlands 2

IMO.

Wouldn't recommend Diablo 3 personally.

The steam summer sale

That's a bit upsetting. I'll get my YouTube on later and see what I fancy.

Omaeka, what made you dislike Diablo 3? I loved the first and second games, although second became a pretty big grind fest. I don't like this cash auction idea but apart from that I thought it seemed pretty cool.

Is there any news on a Planetside 2 release date? I had a little scan is the PS2 thread but it's a fair few pages long :p

Stalker series, began longer ago than 3 years but if you've never played any of them then you should give them a go. They're among my favourite games of all time, and I'm picky so they must be good!:p

I played the first one and thought it was pretty good, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of single player games and I don't remember there being any multiplayer on the first one?

Just to be a bit more specific, I'm looking at RPG and FPS games mainly, not a huge fan of RTS although I'll probably get the new Rome Total War and Starcraft, and the more multiplayer the better.

deus ex 3
max payne 3
uncharted 2 & 3
limbo
starcraft 2
shogun 2
tribes ascend
halo reach

coming out in the next year:

rome 2
generals 2

Pretty sure that comes under ''tedious console gaming" ;)

To add a few,

For FPS then:
DayZ (Itself is a mod for Arma II Combined Operations, but well worth it)
Bioshock 1 + 2 (Both great games, second with multiplayer)

For RPG:
The Last Remnant (Picked it up the other day, made by Square Enix and similar to Final Fantasy)
FF7 is also due on PC later this year

For FPS / RPG:
Borderland 1 / 2 (Currently on sale - links in the Daily Deals thread for a couple of quid
Fallout 3 / Fallout: New Vegas (Tons of mods available to use on PC)

Already posted by Aedus, I think Dishonored and Watch Dogs are probably the 2 most interesting games due out this year.

Also, in October we have Hitman Absolution and Far Cry 3 which both look excellent to me. Far cry 2 was turd, but I have been impressed with the trailers I have seen.

And I would definitely recommend playing Deus Ex HR.

Any of the better games that are being listed, like Deus Ex, MP3, Fallouts, Uncharted etc, I've played on PS3. I hated New Vegas it was a real let down, but obviously Fallout 3 was amazing. I've never played the Borderland games so I might give them a go, but I've gotta say none of these have really stuck out to me from what I've YouTubed, I guess I was expecting something of Oblivion/Skyrim level or a new WoW contender.

The new Hitman looks great, and I love the Far Cry games so I expect that the 3rd to be good.

Bethesda games are a totally different prospect on PC, so if you have played them already on consoles, pick them up again and add a few mods. They are completely different games.

If you liked Oblivion for example, there is a total conversion for it called Nehrim which is a mod set in a completely new world with its own story and side quests etc. It is very good.

I played Oblivion on my last PC and did play a few of the mods, but I was thinking of getting Skyrim and giving that a go as the PS3 version left me wanting a little. What's the best FPS around at the moment? Does CS Source still have a following? Or is it some sort of Call of Duty and Battlefield?

I quite enjoyed Oblivion (vanilla), though it's my least favourite rpg within the series. At some point, I'll have to go back and apply some big mods. :)
