Are my GTX 690 Graphics Settings Ok?

I recently bought a GTX 690 and have been a bit disappointed with the performance in Battlefield 3. The average fps is fine, but seems to fluctuate a lot and significantly dips down during lots of action. The minimum fps actually doesnt seem much better than what I was getting with my old GTX 570!

So I just wanted to make sure I have everything set up correctly and optimised for performance... I have actually noticed an odd problem: Under Manage 3D Settings for Battlefield 3 for some reason "Multi-GPU Rendering Mode" is highlighted in bold:

When I click on it to bring up the drop down menu it then defaults to "Force alternate frame rendering 1" and strangely am unable to reselect "NVIDIA default". Playing with this mode gives me literally 25fps max! The only way to get back to the default is to click the Restore button at the top.

Here are my Multi-GPU settings:

Seems like maybe there is some sort of conflict? I only use one monitor for gaming (BenQ) and no 3D glasses. I havent overclocked the card at all. Does everything look ok? Thanks.

System: i7 2600k @ 4.7GHz, 16GB Ram, Windows 7 64bit, 240GB SSD, GTX 690, Asus P8Z68-V Pro

I left all those settings at default and can max out every game with no fps issues at 1440p so you definitely shouldn't be running into problems. I also have it as showing Maximise 3D performance so don't worry about that.

I can run Battlefield 3 fine and I have the Multi-Gpu rendering mode set to Nvidia Recommended (Multi-GPU)

My antialiasing mode is set to application controlled however from what you've shown me, same for anisotropic filtering bar that we have the same settings.

I didn't add a program exception for BF3. I just left mine on "let the application decide" or whatever it's called.

Have 680 SLI so the same as yourself in practice.

Average around 110-115 in multiplayer.

Obi & Rusty what are your min/max? The op says his averages are fine but hes worried about his min fps.

Thanks for the speedy replies.

@daz: My CPU is: i7 2600k @ 4.7GHz

@Rusty: Ah ok. Maybe Im worrying about nothing then but didnt you find it odd for the fps to fall that much?

I ran a benchmark on multiplayer Noshahr Canals TDM playing at 1080, 88 fov, and mostly low and the minimum was 86fps and average 158fps. The average is great but thought it was kinda strange that the fps nearly halved at times and dunno what could be straining it that much all of a sudden! Tbh Id rather have lower consistent frame rates than constantly jumping between 80-200 odd!

You wil always get FPS dips playing BF3 due to the nature of the game (sudden tank explosions etc).

My FPS dropped when the server froze I think. I was dead when it came back but the sudden seizure triggered a minimum which I definitely wouldn't otherwise have had.

I'll run another one tonight.

Yeh fair enough I guess. I just didnt expect a difference of nearly 120fps between the max and min values!

That would be appreciated thanks :)
