For around £200, also having a adjustable stand.
Any advice please.

I have:
4.4 2500k
8 gig ram
gtx 560ti 2gb

In currently running games like tribes ascend on very high setting at 1680 x 1050 at about 70 fps average, will I be able run at 1980 x 1080 no problem?

Thanks.

Does it have to be 16:9? Obviously it suits movies, but I've recently moved to a 16:10 and find the extra screen area excellent for games.

The Dell Ultrasharp monitors could well be a good choice. The U2312 is 23" 1920x1080, the U2412 is 24" 1920x1200. IPS typically has slower response times, but I see no issues with ghosting on my 2412

I see you have some Canon gear in your signature, how do you find this Monitor for photography?

I might get http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-052-DE but will my PC run at higher ress no problem?

It'll run most games at max fine, but some you will need to turn down some options.

I love it, but the anti-glare coating does make the colours look a bit more muted compared to, for instance, the Apple Cinema displays we have at uni.

It doesn't have full AdobeRGB gamut either, but as most of my work is posted online, this doesn't bother me (no browsers can display full gamut, only sRGB)

I have heard you can get black lines with 16:10, so whats the best 16:9 for around 200 with adjustable stand, thanks.

Blank lines on 16:9 MOVIE content but never in games. Just configure them to run in a 16:10 resolution which ANY game made in the last decade will support.

Also, you cannot have the best of both worlds for gaming and colour critical work/movie watching.

You will have to compromise on one or the other.

I have the Dell U2412m for a few weeks and it's been good so far. It is better than my old monitors.

You'll get black lines with movies/tv, but that isn't much of an issue.

I've come from 1680x1050 with a GTX285 and from the games I've tried so far, I have only changed the resolution to 1920x1200 and not messed with the other settings and the games still appear to run acceptable.

Games I've tried:
Portal 2
L.A. Noire
Diablo 3
Skyrim
Tribes Ascend

Settings for most are all high, accept for maybe L.A. Noire with some medium and skyrim with some of the distances down.

The only thing I have issue with is that my xbox 360 when connected to it, is streched instead of black borders.
