My friends owns a Honda Civic Type R and has recently found that other people's key fobs are opening his car.

It doesn't appear to be everyone's, but quite a few people have managed to open it. He also took the car in for a service recently and Honda had a quick look, but couldn't find anything.

The cars fobs seem to be random e.g. owners of VW Polo, Mercedes etc.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any clue what might be the root cause?

Never heard of this before but i would write a complaint into Honda ASAP if i were him and go back to the garage and demand they change the remote locking kit. It would help if you could get an example fellow nice person to give up some of their time as proof, but that's going to be hard to do... I assume it doesn't happen with anybody that he knows?

Funnily enough, I think one of his neighbours can actually open his car :o

I'll suggest it to him. It's a really strange problem and can't say I've heard of it before either!
