What are these pumps like in terms of flow rate? I see it says 400lph but how would this compare to a better pump like a d5?
I was looking at this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-103-EK&groupid=962&catid=2141&subcat=
for the quietness (going to mount it in my 5.25s so I don't want a noisy pump).

I have plans for a loop that includes no blocks or rads (I'm aware I sound crazy ;)) But I will need a pump that's got good fast flow. The loop would be bayres-pump-tuberes(mounted on the back of the 5.25s)-bayres

I don't want to be shelling out £90 for a d5+top for what is essentially.. just for aesthetics. Hence considering this cheapo pump. The coolant needs to be nice and swirly in the tube res ;)

Its a nosy pump at full speed but just put some padding underneath it. Its a fully capable pump other wise.

Even the D5 isn't that quiet in full load btw but its defo not just a aesthetic pump it is bloody good pump and ive just bought two the other week for the first time in my water cooling career and they are good.

Noisy is a nono, I need it to be quiet :(. Is it just noisy from vibrations or is it a loud audible pump hum? Vibrations I can fix :D.

I wasn't clear, it's not he pump that would be for aesthetics because they're all ugly lol, it's the entire loop. I want the tube res to be a main feature within the case. I have a d5 for my actual cooling, which I run on max and can't hear because it's under my desk. I know that on setting 1 or 2 one would be good for this, but they're expensive.

I figured that if i configured the loop correctly (tube res single outlet at the bottom, pump powerful enough, no rads or blocks or dead areas) then I could get aurora to last a long time? The effect fades due to the particles settling right?

The bay res I already have is the xspc multi fasica single bay, same inner layout as the one used in the auroroa introduction video.

If silence is your goal you may be better with a D5 turned down.

I got one of these pumps a couple of weeks ago and at first it was inaudible, the rest of my system noise coming from a Sapphire 7850, 2x 600rpm 25cm fans, a 700rpm 120mm fan and a OCUK Battle PSU (loudest part of system). However since then I replaced the Battle PSU with a Coolermaster Silent Pro and the DCP 2.2 is now the loudest thing in my system, I can hear it from my desk and my ears would be ~1.5m from the pump. As mounting goes its currently sat on top of a sock on top of a piece of foam on top of a DVD case.

In my case some of the noise may be from the actual speed of the flow as I have no rads in my system so the only flow restriction is an EK Supremacy block, im planning on replacing mine with a D5 when funds allow.

noise what noise ? mine is silent and it does a great job in my system if its mounted correctly you shouldnt hear it and its the price of a few beers on a night out cheap as chips pump that works really well

have now got a 2.2 along side a 4 and cant hear them at all one is in an external housing on the supplied rubber mat the other is just sitting on some sound deadening stuck to the bottom of my case neither u can hear unless u put ur ear against the pumps themselves

As an update I have the 400lph version (2.2) of this pump currently running in the system and it can be heard at 12v.
If I was to compare it to the d5 on setting 5 (obviously much more powerful) I would say they are equally as loud, however the 2.2 is a very low-pitched sound whereas the d5 is a high pitched sound.

since this pump uses a 3 pin for power I actually undervolt it with my fan controller and it is silent. The aurora effect actually looks better at slower rpms imo.

Is that safe? I considered using a 12v/7v adapter on mine but the pump has an 8v starting voltage so figured it could damage it, how low do you have yours set?

itll just stop if it goes to low i have the same thing on fans that are not pwm ones u can undervolt using a fan controller when they go to low they just stop.

some will allow it some wont afaik.

i had read for 7v u can actually mess up your psu tho somewhere dont think it would be an issue in this case tho

Couldn't say sorry, I don't use it for an actual cooling loop so It's not a disaster if it damages it. Was just a bit of a test. The fan controller doesn't display the volts sorry.
