I'm thinking of getting this monitor but have heard bad things about the anti glare coating.

I can't seem to find any pics of the monitor showing exactly how bad/intrusive this issue is.

Anyone have this monitor mind taking a couple of pics showing the anti glare in action?
I hear it's worst on a white background.

Cheers.

Unfortunately you can't see that kind of thing in pictures and would have judge it for yourself first hand. The diffusion of light is heavy for all colours, but on light colours more light is produced and you can see a clearly defined texture from the surface. It doesn't bother everyone so you have to judge for yourself. Feel free to contact me by trust for more detail.

when i first looked at mine i thought mmn a bit sparkly 24hrs later and till this day dont notice it tbh. u have to be close to really see it and stare into it i found i use privacy screens at work on my monitors so i guess im sort of used to it but some people it does bother but if you ask most people who have them they say its not an issue id rather have that than a shiney screen i posted a thread a while ago unboxing the u2711 pics in there will find the link

here some pics but cant really see it as mentioned above

TBH - it's really not as bad as a lot make it out to be.

I've just got rid of my U2711 - but only because I wanted 120Hz - the AG didn't bother me at all.

It's most noticeable in a dark room when viewing bright/light colours.

The monitor is designed to be used in an office environment & for that, it works very well.

Even then, my home office isn't always that brightly lit & it still didn't bother me.

Just because it's *most noticeable* in that environment... doesn't make it bad :p

Try it, return it under DSR if it's not to your tastes?

It's really not... that... bad

I'd put money on when you see it you wonder what all the fuss is about :p

I'm thinking of doing that.

But don't wanna be hit with a costly return bill.

Might do so after this DGM is collected.

I'm posting out my U2711 today - GWizz couriers insure monitors.

I've insured it for the full new cost of £600 and including the insurance, it's cost just under £14 for next day delivery :)

Nice!

I was looking at Royal Mail/Parcel Force.
They quoted £25/£35!

I will check out GWizz.

Cheers.

btw: how many posts is it to get access to the members market?
I read it's 1000...? has it gone up from 250?

Yeah - 1000 now matey.

There aren't any on there at the minute, anyway & they don't seem to pop up often... you might have more luck at AVF classifieds.

ah ok, that's a shame.
I don't think I'll ever hit 1000 posts.
Not even 1/10th of the way there :p

Yeah had a look on AVF.
Some guy might have one for £360.
But it's an A02 revision.

Not sure whether to go for it.

The earlier models up to A03/A04 had some issues that were ironed out in later releases.

I'm not sure exactly what the issues were, can't remember.

If he can prove it's all functioning without issue to you - then go for it.

Otherwise, I'd recommend looking for a newer version.

Thanks for the advice.
I might buy a refurb with 1yr warranty. High revision aswell but it's £430.
Guaranteed to have no dead, stuck or bright pixels.
That's my kind of policy :)

Cheers.

Just found out I'll have to use them to return this DGM to OCUK.
Thought they'd arrange pick up and take the cost out of the refund.

I guess this method does make more sense.

Maybe I'm just too use to how another online retailer does things :p
(can I not even mention another retailer in the forums?)

You can't mention it but I know exactly who you are talking about. Their policy is exceptional regarding returns but by no means standard practice.
