Is it possible for me to update the MSI OC 7970 with the Ghz edition bios?

I just flicked the bios to switch 2 and tried it using atiwinflash but it came up with a rom error and upon reboot i get no display when running bios 2. Flicked back to bios 1 and all ok but if i can use this bios id like to try it.

I was under the impression you might get better clocks/temps/volts.

I posted a picture of the card here, its the stock version MSI OC card. The picture they have posted on the main site is incorrect its this one.

Should flash fine then as it's reference.

I have strong doubts as to if there are any benefits of flashing the BIOS although as I don't have one I could be talking rubbish :p.

Any benefit is probably a placebo effect.

Well when i tried flashing it to the second bios after flicking the switch it came up with a rom error. I cant remember the exact message but if someone types it ill remember.

Ok i managed to get both bios back so now i have two working bios switches again. Phew!

Will have another go with the method you suggest.

Just get moving those sliders then instead. Far better way of overclocking. You could have been in game and playing with it by now :p

I know rusty. I almost cried when i realised id borked both bios lol. Luckily i did it once before and so i was no stranger to force flashing and saving a bios just incase it goes wrong. I tell you mate, bricks were laid.

Heres where im at with overclocking.

1150 core stock volts. However no matter how much voltage i throw at it i cannot get it higher. Really want 1200 core. Any suggestions?

Memory ive got up to 1575 so far and i think there is room to push it further. Really want that magical 1200 core though. ;)

Love this card.

1.112 Stock volts - Asic 78.9

will do

1150/1575 stock volts (mem may go higher)

will do

1200/1675 @ 1.156 volts

If i don't manage the temp once i go past 1150 core i get artefacts and crashes. I have to use a manual fan setting of 55% to get fully stable at 1200 core. Its very strange but it works.

Think thats as far as i want to push it, im happy with faster performance than a gtx 680. GG.

Not an overclocked 680 :p. They're effectively even. 680 faster at 1080; 7970 faster above 1080. As a general rule of thumb anyway....
