my car is due an interim service this month

this is just fluid checks, door hinge grease etc and oil/oil filter change

Awesome GTI charge £99 for this with stamp

i can easily do this myself but obviously will not have the stamp in the book but will have the receipts stapled to the page etc

so the age old question, spend ~£40 on genuine parts and DIY or spend £99 and let garage do it with stamp?

what would you do?

Fabia VRS 2006 Mk1 yep, FSH by dealer and last full service and cambelt done at Awesome last August.

What is it's value and age? If buying, it would be less of an issue for me on an older, less valuable car, providing it was clear that the work had been carried out through receipts and the cars condition etc :)

Do you plan to sell any time soon? It will make no difference if you plan to run it until it explodes.

good point, its 2006, don't plan to keep it forever but but for the foreseeable future id like to hang to it.

the question is is the labour/stamp worth £60 :D

Not having to faff about yourself is worth 60 quid let alone the stamp.

These are still quite expensive cars for what they are so I'd imagine not servicing it (Because thats effectively what buyers will think) will make more than £60 difference to the value.

Take it to National Tyres for the oil and filter and check the other fluid levels yourself. Having a service book with twice the number of stamps won't magically increase the value of the car.
