**CRAZY END OF MONTH DEALS ON AMD/ATI GRAPHICS CARDS - DO NOT MISS OUT!!**

Came very close to pulling the trigger on one of these deals, after my 8800GTS 512 visited "desktop artifact city" at the weekend, after over 4 years of not being overclocked...

But I decided to go for broke, took the fan off and baked the card in the oven at 180C for 10 minutes and all is well again...

With my bank balance still being £200+ richer for the time being :D

WF just landed, no games to speak of.

Will drop CS a line.

Congrats tommy, let us know how it clocks.

I've got up to 1200/1675 so far with only a slight bump in voltage.

I got my AMD three for free, but am still owed a copy of Dirt.

Thanks guys, hope I'm lucky with the clocks and zero coil whine, you got a good un matt!:D

Hoping I can't tell the fps difference, never appeared to have any had any stutter, but I'll find out later tonight.

5UB replied to my CS query in less than 5 minutes by the way, tremendous CS OcUK, keep up the good work. ;)

Posting the codes 1st class.:D

Yep i think its got more in it but ive reached the max i can without the fan noise becoming tedious. I have to say the blower fans on the 7970 are fine up to about 50%. 60% is tolerable but any more than that and it sounds like concord.

I think you will notice a difference tommy, i did. If you don't notice a difference then it must be because i was in x16-x4 xfire mode becuase bf3 feels much smoother since the switch to 1 card, not to mention i get more fps.

I could only run 2xaa before, now i can run full whack and rarely dip below 55fps.

Got my windforce 7970 up and running, but tbh i am a little disapointed, sure its fast but its not as big a jump as what i was expecting to see in a £340 gfx card. i havent bought a high end gfx card for a while but last time i did i could run the latest games at 100+ fps, now with this one im getting around 60!

Did a quick overclock last night with default volts as for some reason after burner will not let me change the voltage, even though its enabled in CFG file anyway i got it to 1150 on core, and 1700 on memory. I have noticed coil whine on certain games but not all, seems strange to me.

did the benchmark on metro 2033, and it dipped to around 17-20 fps most way through it, and thats with a ivy I5 and 4.2 ghz and 8gig ram would expect much better of a card that commands such a high price! im only gaming at 1600 x 1050 res too as my monitor is a older 22" widescreen so not like im running high res or anything!

That's very subjective saying last time you got 100fps now you have 60fps, all games are different.
Depends what game and what settings you have, obviously your not very knowledgeable about pcs.

Metro 2033 is a horribly optimised game during the benchmark you can expect it to drop to low FPS, even with a 7970.

Having said that, you should have on average higher than 60 FPS during actual gameplay - somewhere around 80 I'd think. Try the 12.7 Catalyst beta drivers - they supposedly contains lots of performance enhancements for a lot of games.

No i guess im just naive, thinking back to the last time i spent that sort of money on a high end graphics card Asus Radeon x800 xt pe, think that cost me close to £350 and i can remember being blown away by the performance, with this... not so much, certainly does not feel like £300+ worth from coming from a older HD5850 which cost me £200 if i remember nearly 2 years ago

the xt pe ran for like 2 years playing every game maxed out but i can see this card struggling in probably even a years time

Maybe its my drivers but i have the latest non BETA ones from ati, but did not uninstall my old ati card it just detected this new one

I have the same card and I can tell the difference between my old card which is a hd 6970 2gb from last year and is still a £200+ card. I have a 120hz monitor and I can get close to 120fps on high in bf3 on my new card;)

well to be fair, the only games i have tried so far (only had an hour last night) are Diablo 3, which isn't very demanding, Metro 2033, ran very well but benchmark destroyed my gfx card, and 3d mark 2011, which was shuddery in places. Will try a few more games over the next few days when i get chance. i don't have BF3 unfortunately
