Around £100 for a decent motherboard for getting Clock frequency around 4.5.. will settle for 4 GHz.

need 1 PCI-E 3.0 & 1 PCI socket.

thanks for your input.

however i feel it's a bit too much like a budget board unfortunately

if we ignore the price...

this has had great reviews & seems more high quality

You want a decent board for a 100 quid and you sniff when someone shows you something with Z77 at that kind of money? For that kind of money, guess what ... it's a gonna be a budget board you're gonna get. What were you expecting? Just give me a moment and I'll see if I can get you the moon on a silver platter.

While I'm doing that you could just go to OCuk website, sort all the Z77 boards by price, of which the cheapest one in stock is about 80 quid. Just take your pick of the 10 or so listed boards under 100 quid - go for whichever brand floats your boat.

Are you kidding me?

anyway.

What i'm looking for is a board which has all the standard functions whilst not been a budget board which isn't going to last 2 years due to component failure. 2 Sata 6 Drives, 1 GPU & a single PCI slot. it's not top of range functionality is it?

I've been out of the PC component game for too long, staring at 6 different socket 1555 chipsets is un-nerving to say the least so i thought someone who knows all about these crazy chipsets would know which one would fit my bill. (Not saying I'm technology challenged, far from it tbh; Studying Electronic Engineering @ uni but i just don't have the patience to browse through large quantities of fanboy & Company garbage a like.

lol can't believe i forgot to post the name, must have been distracted.

Well firstly I think just about all manufacturers offer something in the way of a guarantee that should say something about their quality and being able to last longer than 2 years. With some you get a 3 year warranty so if going to interchange the word 'budget' with 'shoddy' then I think you're way off.

Well the board that you were kindly directed to uses the Intel Z77 chipset. This is currently the top solution for socket 1155 and represents the very latest feature set, and whilst you'll pay a premium for Z77 over other chipsets it still falls within your budget although you'll only get basic features because it will be a .... wait for it .... 'budget' Z77 board. That said, I think most people would aim for Z77 at almost any price on that socket over any of the others lower spec chipsets.

ok, so you're looking for the features of 150 quid board for 100 quid. I don't know why you say ignore the OCuk price, because thats what the thing costs and won't be much cheaper anywhere else, and it certainly won't be 100 quid ... but if you can find that particular board at your budget then I don't know why you're still here and haven't bought it already.

Incidentally, OCuk do the LX version of that board for a tad under 90 quid.

It might be helpful if you told us what you're intending to do with the board, as that would go a long way to helping make a more specific recommendation rather than on just price, as like I said you could just sort through the 10 or so budget Z77 boards and be done with it, as they will all be much of a muchness at the end of the market.

Purchased ;)

No it's not the rev, but there are about five different versions of the P8Z77-V. You've got the basic one, or the LE, Pro, Deluxe and Premium, and then they also do versions with the Thunderbolt interface too.
