Who's more immoral, the Scots or English?

The Scots are masters at hiding their hatred and projected their hatred onto other people, the English are more - hearts on sleeve. So who are the biggest haters?

So - what is our recently joined OP trying to achieve here?

  • A genuine debate between the Scottish And English members on this forum without the OP giving his/her own personal opinion on the matter?
    or
  • A thread full of Scottish & English members starting with general banter before elevating hatred towards each other which will inevitably degenerate to personal insults before being locked.

Well my input on the subject, bearing in mind that Immoral - adjective:

1. transgressing accepted moral rules; corrupt.
2. sexually dissolute; profligate or promiscuous.
3. unscrupulous or unethical: immoral trading.
4. tending to corrupt or resulting from corruption.

I'm clearly Scottish (you can guess by my username :p) I've lived in Scotland all my life and I married an English lass (from Peterborough) and I still consider myself above all things to be British. I certainly wouldn't consider myself pigeon holed into any of the above categories!

Sonea Fifer - exactly what I've been thinking, these threads pop up on OCUK fairly regularly and always end up in suspensions/locking of the thread after pointless rantings by a daft minority. They should be treated like medical advice threads, both are bad for the health.

Also Scottish and married to an English lass and my extended family are a mix of mostly English and Scots. I honestly don't understand the whole hatred thing people go on about, if it exists it does so only in the minds of a few fools. Everyone is biased in some form in the UK, that doesn't in any way mean it's hatred.

The Scottish are just jealous.

Jealous of what? We get a lot of english people berating Scots for getting free university places and free prescriptions, I dont really hear a lot of Scottish people saying "you know I wish i was English because...."

Im kinda stumped by this comment.

I keep wanting to answer this with The Scots... But only because I misread the title initially as Immortal...

Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod!!!

*hums the queen song*

Probably because those English people don't understand that to grant free Uni places for all they take money from the Primary and Secondary school systems to do so. I'd rather the money was chucked at every kid and those that want to go to Uni pay for it like in England than skimp on every child's education so a select few can go to Uni like in Scotland.

It wouldn't surprise me if the free prescriptions were paid for by taking money out of the NHS elsewhere as well.

Dribble.

They are in fact funding it in part by building up a massive funding black hole over the medium to long term if nothing changes. That is a valid criticism. Although overall funding from budget to higher education has increased. Primary and secondary education is not being looted for higher education. That funding has also increased in real terms, primary school class sizes have never been smaller in history and the SNP have far outstripped Labour in the hundreds of replacement and new primary and secondary schools it has built. There are more teachers than there were under Labour and more improvements will be made. It is certainly appealing to throw everything at youth education, but the importance of higher education for education itself and other sectors of society and the economy cannot be understated ignored or underfunded. Nor can it be brushed aside with emotive innaccurate twiddle. It allows access, broader access, to higher education for those who would other be denied access due to their social standing.

Free prescriptions were largely paid for by significant cuts in senior managerial grades in NHS boards the length of the country with a capital injection from budget.

You have to remember, under "Scottish" Labour they purposefully underspent the Scottish budget to send tens of millions back to Westminster year after year.. while crime rose, while education standards and quality were slipping, while the poor in Scotland got poorer and the rich got richer.. year after year.

The SNP spend all monies rightfully allocated to Scotland and have reformed like no other administration we have seen for hundreds of years, the sooner some get to grips with this the better. ;)

I think the only immoral thing in this thread is using Scots instead of Scottish.

But since it is practically a monthly thread, I will give some food for thought, the world likes us more due to our diaspora which was due to the English, yet everyone hates English diaspora...I wonder why. ;)

dude this is such a silly question, more immoral? scots or english?

i dont think you even realise what is wrong with the above question, good luck in life by the way

As for the actual thread topic, I think us Scots like to make snide remarks about the English because we know it makes people like the OP get all upset about it. Most of us don't actually mean it or care, it's just fun to wind you up.

So you're trolls and wind-up merchants? Lovely.

Scots are masters at projecting their hatred onto other people, which is why Scotland is infamous for sectarian violence and division between its own people. Not to mention the long history of clan conflict.

Great OP would read again 0.5/10.

English civil wars? The harrying of the north?

Ireland?

Are you really this blinkered? Or projecting yourself perhaps?

There's not many comedians who can go to Scotland, call their national hero a pedophile and not get booed off stage . :)

I'd remain to be convinced that William Wallace is a national hero, I think it was a fantastic piece of comedy but the main thing there that might convince people William Wallace is/was a national hero is probably that Stewart Lee keeps saying that he is.

Not incidentally but it's more mocking of the film Braveheart than actually about William Wallace.
