Why does COD Have Its Own Rules?

Used to enjoy playing cod 4, just on public but having fun.

Now everytime I join a cod 4 server its got its own ridiculous rule set:

Do not use grenade launcher.
Do not bunnyhop.
Do not jump round corners.
Do not jump to avoid being shot.
Do not use certain weapons.

Theres probably more than that, this is just stupid.

I've been playing fps since ut 99 and never have I played with any rules, I've always just played, get this - HOW I WANT TO PLAY.

I notice its infecting battlefield aswell, goddamn basement dwellers inventing their own "improved" rules that make them feel more important while they eek out a tedious existence. Well thats my theory.

I can't find a cod 4 server with no rules, I'd love some IP's of no rules servers if anyone has any. I mean ones that get plenty of players in daily.

i have three copies of cod4 for all of the above banned by stupid admins on cod4 public servers (not by pb just the stupid server admins )

most often im kicked for bunny hopping even though you cant bunny hop and cant since 2003 in cod 1 :rolleyes:

so just play promod youll be fine
 
It's been around since individuals could run their own servers (always :D). You get some douchebag with a list of pet hates about the game or has been killled 2-3 times in a row by something and hes probably going to go into mini-napoleon mode.

It's rampant but just ignore it, 99/100 it isn't enforced and if it is? just avoid the server.
 
Welcome to black ops as well rage admins because I jump round corners and kill them. Bunch of whinging children most of the time.
 
Because the admins are usually butthurt noobs who have been killed by the ways they have banned.

You get it in other games too, the only one I didn't understand was what bunny hopping is.

All this jumping crap and jumping round corners doesn't seem to affect anything anyway.

Bunny hopping was jumping constantly to move faster than regular running, in some games reaching pretty insane speeds... however nearly all FPS games for years and years have made it impossible - but admins basically now just mean "if you jump in the air whilst I'm shooting at you I'm going to blame that instead of my own crappy aim / reactions".
 
I actually prefer servers where that kind of **** isn't allowed, and before anyone asks, I'm a pretty good player :)
 
Technically they shouldn't have to have rules like that if the game was properly handling jumping etc.

Bunny hopping has been happening since FPS came out (with the option to jump!)

Ahh I recall doing that on a single player game :)
I've not been affected by it on multiplayer games though.

The only time when another player has arrived at a location way before expected was when they were cheating.


Unless it makes someone impossible to hit or shoot then I agree it's just crap players whining.
 
I think its there to keep competitive games between skilled players, and making it less Halo. Cheesy things are best left to the more arcade based shooters, I know CoD is arcade, but it isn't quite Unreal/Halo. Banning weapons does seem abit silly, though.

There are quite a few reality servers and that's because that's what a lot of people want. There's plenty of Promod servers with a normal ruleset.

No idea what you're moaning about.

Because last I checked, UT99 wasn't full of stupid weapons that take no skill to use and didn't have unbalanced weapons.

Yes the rules regarding jumping are stupid though. Specially when they don't understand what bunny hopping means.

Well thinking about it, except maybe an RPG, most explosive weapons, especially grenade launchers are boring to use but very overpowered (which makes sense, they shoot grenades! :p) and people don't want to feel forced to use them to be able to compete. It makes sense but its still a legit part of the game, they shouldn't ban any weapon.
