I might of misread and misunderstood the fee's side of PayPal, I know JustGiving take 76p of every £10 (including transaction fee from Barclaycard) whereas to transfer £10 in Paypal is only 57p.

http://www.justgiving.com/en/how-justgiving-works/our-fees

That's 76p after Gift Aid. I give £10, HMRC give £2.50, Justgiving get 76p and the charity gets £11.74

With Paypal... I give £10, Paypal take £0.52 (by my calculations - this bit is hard to work out) and then you pass £9.48 on to the charity. HMRC give £2.37 and the charity gets £11.85.

Actually, it's not that bad, but either way, it's not great. So you choose whether you want to give money to Justgiving or Paypal, and the difference to the charity is just 1.1% of the donation, and you have the issue of whether people want to give money to a random Paypal account or to Justigiving who they have considerably more assurance will actually pass the money on...

No disrespect meant anyway. I went through all this when I did my charity cycle ride, and there were plenty of people who wanted to give cash rather than use Justgiving.

Don't be so utterly retarded. Do you actually think like this in real life or are you trying to be clever* to prove a point?

I walk and ride EVERY day. I have a potential 'situation' on the bike at least once a week and I can't remember the last time it happened as a pedestrian.

Yeah but if you have an accident at 25 mph and smash your head into the ground it won't really do much damage will it?
You need to be cycling at least 60 to 70 mph to leave a bruise.

I've been driving for 37 years and NEVER needed my seatbelt.
What's the point?

On a serious note I asked a work mate why he never wore a helmet and he said because he didn't go fast enough.
I've been behind him in the car doing 35mph down a bank.

I'm a big advocate of wearing a helmet when cycling and although speed can make a difference in terms of head injuries, I've seen helmets cracked when people have taken a tumble at very low speeds.

Boss at work was slightly off balance at turning on gravel at next to no speed on his bike and fell and had very bad grazing to his arm and leg and didn't think anything had happened to his head until he looked at his cracked helmet. We keep it in the office as a reminder and I'll take a photo of it next week.

BTW Dimple, if you've had a knock to your helmet, it's quite likely that its structure has been compromised even though it may look OK. It's advisable to replace it.

I thought you had just solved my problem, but I can't find a 2012 Allez in a 54cm anywhere, if anyone can locate one, preferably in the black colour scheme please let me know!

Edit - Scrap that, I think I'm going to go down the Trek 1.5 route after all, it is more expensive but it means it falls in the 12 months finance option which would be ideal for me at the minute.

Try the Specialized Concept Stores, they may have some still in stock on sale.

Hurrah, my eBay bargain hunting has paid off. I got (second hand) a long sleeved top, a short sleeved top, a windproof compression base layer, and some new bolle glasses in the post and they're all grand. Cost me about £30. The el cheapo bib shorts I got for £15 are rubbish, so I've not even tried them or removed the tags and I'm going to sell them on quick sharp in as good a conscience as I can muster. Still, on the whole that's a win.

Good luck with that, but I'll tell you for a fact the you will NOT stop very quickly with leg power unless you're riding something with hipster-esque gearing. If you tried to 'fixie skid' stop mine from 25mph or more (48-16 or 52-18 gearing), it'll rip your feet out your ankles and I'm not exaggerating

i ride 48x17 and can stop from 20mph pretty easy without my front brake, but i never would because using the front brake means i dont go through tyres every few weeks

So annoying that people enter competitions like that just to sell the prize on.

How can I tell if my brake pads are worn visually and if they are, are they easy enough to replace? And if so with what pads?

Edit: I've got SRAM Rival brakes.

I have revised the listing today after I was contacted by Sky to inform me that it is not a 2011 bike but one of Bradley's 2012 Bikes. And also to express their and apparently social media's disappointment that I am selling it. Now I am sorry to disappoint but as an ordinary working man I cannot justify keeping such an expensive and special bike, however much I want to. Nor am I going to squeeze my 6ft1, 15 stone frame into tightly fitting Lycra and use it every now and again to keep fit, it surely deserves a better life than that. Hopefully looking at the number of views there should be some Bradley Wiggins fans or keen riders that can use or show off this bike in the manner it deserves. Regards Si

So why enter the competition, dumbass?

It wouldn't be unheard of for people to bid this sort of thing up to several hundred thousand and then not pay... What a shame that would be for an ordinary working man.
