OK I have waited for this moment for ages.

I can now get Fibre broadband :)

The thing is BT are dong a better deal than Sky.

BT is £18 a month (3 months half price), £25 activation fee and a £25 M&S voucher.
Sky is £20 a month and £50 activation fee.

Over 12 months -

BT £214
Sky £290

I am currently with Sky and thought if I threatened to cancel they would waver the activation fee but no, they don't seem to care :(

Any one here got around it?

Otherwise I am tempted to go with BT, I've heard they don't cap Newsgroups so I should be ok?

Don't seem to get throttled on BT at all, but it is true, Sky don't throttle at all but it's not all the time with BT. IIRC it's only when the network is busy. Guess it all depends if you P2P or not as that's the only thing FME that BT 'manage'.

I have signed up for sky fibre, awaiting installation. When i signed into mysky on their website - there was an offer for free activation. Also if you sign up to quidco and sign up online - you get £75 cashback - this definitely swayed it for me :)

EDIT - cashback is now £125 - ouch i should have waited!

Never used quidco before and I can't get the fibre to show on the system builder :(

As you are already with sky - it should be a seamless process. I am currently on o2 LLU and will have everything moved over including sky talk on the 13th.

For free installation - i received a letter in the post and when i signed into mysky the offer was there - this may not be to case for you.

Link for quidco is here

http://www.quidco.com/sky-digital-upgrades-tv-and-broadband/

You can only get quidco cashback if you do the whole process online, and click through the quidco website to get to sky's website. It tracked the amount within 12 hours of purchase.

At £125 its a no brainer - i would have happily waited a week for it

i believe though that if you factor in line rental as well sky ends up being cheaper, plus I would go with sky any day as has been said above, no shaping or throttling etc

Thanks for the link Naan - If I proceed with this then when it's installed I can just cancel my normal broadband with Sky? or will they just do it anyway?

I just don't want to go weeks with no internet :)

OK, I need help.

I have clicked the quidco link which took me to Sky's website.

I have now put Sky fibre in my basket, do I just go through with it and quidco will know that the transaction has gone through?

Sorry mate just popped out to the shops.

Yes, sky will automatically sort everything out for you, you should only have a few minutes downtime i think. Are you with sky broadband and sky talk too? If so im not sure if you will get the cashback?

As you have gone through the quidco link, quidco should be able to track the transaction.

Sorry for being a pedant...

Here is the 'offer' from the website

http://www.sky.com/shop/customer-shop/broadband-talk/

Taken from the 'legal bit' on the above page:

6 months free unlimited broadband offer: Available for new residential broadband, calls & line rental customers and existing Sky TV customers switching their broadband, calls# and line rental to Sky. Only available in Sky network areas. Excludes new customers joining with TV. Excludes Fibre products. Offer applied following activation of both Broadband & Talk services. Sky line rental £12.25 a month. £2.18 router delivery charge. After 6 months Broadband Unlimited £10 a month with Talk Freetime for new customers without Sky TV and £7.50 extra a month for existing Sky TV customers. No traffic management policy for Sky Broadband Unlimited. External factors such as internet congestion can affect speed.

Regardless its still a great deal :)
