someone buying Arma 2 for me .. how

A friend owes me some cash and instead of him sending it to me via post, i was going to get him to buy me a Arma 2 OA online for download so that i can get DAYZ.

my questions is this.. where can he purchase the game download but send it to me... i mean can he buy the game serial key somewhere and i go and download it then use the key or is it registered to the specific IP Address

I don't know any places other than steam/similar clients where you can gift games. Instead of posting cash, can't he just do a bank transfer? Probably take even less time than buying through steam if he has internet banking.

I don't like not owning my own game, i paid for it.. i want a serial key and to be able to get it and play it whenever i want, i dont want to have to log into steam to play my game

I used to feel the same way hated virtual goods but it seems that every thing is moving in this direction, for a long time with internet scamers an pirates around i was put off any thing brought virtually

Just download it and then delete steam, it does not require steam to run the game!!

I never load into steam to play any of my games that I have purchased from them!

I don't know how you can get by without steam. It'll just get bigger until you have to download it so might as well bite the bullet!

I had the money transferred via paypal and i found it difficult to find combined ops for download without using a client.. so i used steam as it was really the easiest option... hate being forced to do things...

Going to have Dayz by tommorow as the download is taking 8 hrs
