Worth putting in 16Gb RAM?

Hi guys, have to say thanks again for the amazing advice on building my first PC. I've put it to the test over the weekend with Battlefield 3 on max settings and it's light years ahead of my Xbox 360, breathtaking moments of graphical fidelity running at silky smooth frame rates, can't believe how easy it was!

I have a quick question, is it worth going up from 8Gb RAM to 16Gb? I have two 4Gb RAM sticks not being used in my old PC at the moment and wondered if it's worth putting them in or will it not really affect gaming performance?

Thanks guys.

if there the same speed and same rating it won't hurt.

I did just for the hell of it don't think i even use 8 though tbh.

Oh and a quick tip for anybody installing Windows 8 developer preview on a new machine and looking to play Crysis 2, the Direct X11 update doesn't work yet on Windows 8 so you'll need to run it on 7 for now, I found out the hard way.

Hi Passey, yeah I was thinking of doing it just for the hell of it as it's the same memory speed and currently just sitting there in my dormant older PC.

8gb is plenty for gaming. No game will use close to 8gb of ram. Most are console ports and consoles have a poxy 512mb I think. Obviously PC versions will use more but still not close to 8gb.

If you have the 8gb just laying around not doing anything I don't see why not. It won't affect game performance though as other people have said.
