32 dead after being declared fit for work

It doesn't say the circumstances of the deaths or whether the reasons for that death were related to their ability to work. Just because someone is sick or has a disability it doesn't mean they are not fit for work...even if they subsequently die from their illness.

This was explained much better in the Panorama (?) documentary last week.

The point was that Atos ignore vital medical problems and simply declare some clearly disabled people to be fit for work or work related activities in order to reach their quotas (they are a French company and have a one billion-pound contract). Some of the people who they declare fit are so ill they actually die of their existing illness after being declared fit. One such man had serious heart failure and the Atos assessor concentrated on questions about his knee and refused to talk about his heart. He was declared fit by Atos and then died a few weeks later from his heart failure.

I missed the panorama, that's a disgrace.

you are right it doesnt say. for all we know all 32 died in a bus crash....

fair enough if they force someone to work and they drop dead from fatigue/pain etc on the way, but we just dont know if they are related. and as you say, plenty of 'fit' people drop dead every day.
