So as title suggests I was filling a loop for a friend and spilt some mayhems aurora coolant onto the main board. Suffice to say it now wont post, it simply comes on for a second and reboots repeatedly. I was under the impression this coolant was non conductive so I simply mopped it up andfinished the loop.

Any help?

As above.
also afaik all mainstream coolants become conductive. Aurora doesn't claim to be non-conductive from what I've read. (Have a concentrate bottle infront of me).

It does however state this in the product description
Aurora is not designed for constant use. It has been developed for show System's (modding) and Photo work. The life span of Aurora Coolants is around 6months. Please keep this in mind when ordering. If looking for a fluid for a Home system / Gaming system please use Mayhems X1 or Mayhems Pastel range of fluids there are fully tested and working in any kind of loop.

So be aware that when it is up and running you're going to have to change it out for your friend within a couple of months.

Even though all our coolants are none conductive when they are made this does not mean that when you add them to any system they will be none conductive.

We do not advertise the fluids as such as personaly we think it is a scam to say that our fluids are none conductive (in fact its a scam by any company to say so and in a legal court could easily be proven so). Simply having Dust on top of any component will instantly make any coolant you buy conductive. We do how ever advertise the TDS value and the EC value but that is for information purposes only.

The only two coolants out there that are "Real" non conductive are 3m fluids and at £40 per kilo Fluorinert (wich is about 1/2 a Ltr) and £70 per Kilo Novac ( just under 3/4 of a Ltr). How ever grate care must be used when using these fluids as the Fluorinert turns into a gass very quickly (it is environmentally bad) and the Novac is not as good as removing heat as most standard coolants. All so grate care must be taken as these coolants can be as much as 4x heaver than water alone.

Mlwood, you might want to get OCUK to remove this from your ad.

"The best none conductive liquid for liquid cooled pc’s available to the end user."

still doesn't mean spilling it is a good idea.

If the fluid has reacted with any components in your system even dust it could create a short. The fluid itself may indeed be non-conductive but you can't be 100% sure that the composition of the fluid hasn't changed over time. Due to impurities in the components in your system (rads especially)

Leek testing is always the way forward and always will be and it takes no time AT ALL considering the hassle it could save.

TO OP

If you can clean up any residue using isopropanol and be certain you've not left any trace on any single components then you can try and fire it back up.

I have two litres of mayhems di water, was thinking to wash it down with a litre of the stuff after seeing someone rePair a camera that had been dropped in sea water this way. Also just ordinary rice yer, none of this pilau baloney :D

i cannot see that on there bottle listing any ware (products) ... youll need to contact OCUK about it sorry.

snedie i ash my arcade boards with our water every few weeks with no problems ever after drying them out. old pics of me doing it

Don't thnk I said it was, was pointing out the fact that mlwoods post was ad odds with his advert and might want to change it, since as he says, anyone using claims on non conductivity in their product description is a scam.

yeh its how ive been doing it for year. i collect a lot of old knackered arcade boards and fix them (and keep them). It my hobby. The best way to clean them is to stick them in the sink and wash them then bake them in 60c to 80c oven for 1/2 hour :) and ppl think baking there xbox was a new concept haha.

Hmm is baking a motherboard a good idea? Will certainly give it a shot if it works and I don't need to sit the thing in rice for a few days :D

Oh mike not sure if you'd be interested but IPA cleans the pearl stains from tubing, brings it back to near new quality with just a few passes of tissue paper soaked in the stuff. Any one know if IPA is bad for rubber? I was thinking to dilute some and run it through my loops.

And don't worry about me mentioning non conductivity in the OP I realised after I said it that the bottles themselves don't say it, just Ocuk. As people have mentioned they should change the advert.

What about the rubber seals on blocks?

Also just spoken to my friend, this morning he tried to turn the board on without the graphics card in, but didn't remove the power connections from the card when doing so. Never come across anyone doing this, but can that damage the cards? FYI, he doesn't listen much, I might go chop the plug off the power lead :D
