I personally went from a 56 plate Fiesta Zetec S to a 55 plate Honda S2000.

At the time I was considering 3 options, Focus ST, New shape Fiesta and the second hand S2000, fortunately common sense took precedence.

Anything from here is going to be a downgrade for me, power wise.

What's your biggest upgrade or downgrade?

well, fingers cross, Im hoping to jump from a 1.25 75hp y reg fiesta to a 225bhp audi TT. Quite a jump, but I feel like right now, I want more power and excitement. I've been driving 3 years now, and not had a single bump in my fezza or the works vans, so I think I can handle moaarr powaaa!

80 odd BHP Civic to a 147BHP Fiesta ST to a 240BHP Astra VXR if we are talking about power upgrades.

Just about to go from an E46 M3 to E46 320i Touring, non M-Sport. I hate growing up.

Biggest upgrade was from a 306 TD to M3.

1.6 Focus > Focus ST

My next car purchase will more than likely be a downgrade, as I enter the housing market.

450bhp caged and bucket seated 4wd Impreza down to a 55bhp diesel pug 106 as my daily drive...

Oof!

88bhp 1.4 16v(powaa) Vauxhall Tigra up to 231bhp 3.0 24v BMW :)

11bhp 125cc Yamaha YBR125 to 120bhp 600CC CBR600RR, you car drivers can't begin to imagine that feeling ;)

55hp 106d to 143hp E36 318is

Natural progression really, if had been a DC2 like I'd wanted I would have died in a massive fireball.

Biggest downgrade in prestige and price was when I lost my job in 2009. I went from a 2006 Lexus GS430 to a rusty 1997 BMW 540i touring.
Biggest downgrade in power was from my 2006 BMW 750i Sport (361bhp) to my 2007 Honda S2000 (240bhp).
Biggest upgrade in prestige and price was from a 2004 Mazda RX8 to a 2003 Audi A8 4.2 Quattro.
Biggest upgrade in power was from my 2007 BMW 730d (227bhp) to the 2006 BMW 750i (361bhp)

Went from a Fiesta 1.25 with about 70bhp (when new) to a Fiesta ST with 150bhp so quite a big upgrade, but not enough to kill myself as I've only been driving a year. My next car will be another upgrade but I'm not thinking about that yet :)

I had a bit of an up down run

75bhp Sierra > 300bhp Fiat Coupe > 80bhp 1.2 16v Fiat Punto > 250bhp 147GTA > 60bhp 1.1 Astra > 180bhp Alfa GT > 100bhp Stilo > 195bhp Punto

From this (RWD, 300bhp, 0-60mph in less than 5.5 seconds):

To this (61bhp, FWD, 0-60mph in more than 16.5 seconds):

:D

I went from a 1300XL Mk1 Escort to a Datsun 240K, Here's a pic as you lot will be going what the ****?

Mine weren't as nice as that one though but I loved it.

Actually this has me thinking how the bhp has changed for me in cars over the years. This is my approximate history:

125bhp
125bhp +0
150bhp +50
172bhp +22
140bhp -32
208bhp +68
300bhp +92
282bhp -18
240bhp -42
345bhp +105
300bhp -45
282bhp -18
227bhp -55
361bhp +134
240bhp -121

I'm not counting the S Type R as it's a second car rather than an upgrade/downgrade.
If I was it would be 400bhp +160

Interesting to note that since my first car at 19 (Ford Sierra 2.0i GLS) I've not owned a car with less than 125bhp and I've only ever owned one FWD car.
