And ended up with this:

Only bought the tyre 2 weeks ago... Yayyy another £120 down the drain. Thats 7 tyres since april

Just had wheels aligned last friday to.

I still have nightmares about the time I crunched my 6 month old M3 wheel into a curb in a multi-story in Devon. Late for a meeting, on the phone, trying to find a parking spot whilst rushing. The noise was without question THE WORST NOISE IN THE WOLD....EVER!

Housey i didnt want to get out of the car to look. I thought the VXR's splitter was gone to with how big the noise was.

Liquidfox, no, not at all. Seems to have come with a bad omen.

I always laugh at the amount of marks on the walls at multi-story car park ramps, ho ho ho :)

A few months ago I managed to clip a curb very early one morning. I broke the front alloy and burst that tyre, and also damaged the back wheel and tyre enough to need to replace them as well. You can't buy the alloys on my car any more, so I had to buy a full set of four. Because both tyres on one side were ruined, and because the other front was too worn to rotate to the rear, I ended up needing to replace three out of four tyres. Total cost, about £1100.

I think you need to edit your sig again then mate :p

Haha, not the car this time mate. Just pure stupidity and the consequences of being impatient. £120+fitting and tracking for the sake of saving 5 seconds.

Probably hold the record now for most naughty words to be said in 5 minute.

How did you manage to cause a gash in the side of your tyre like that? Did the kerb have a stanley knife attached to it or something?

I kerbed my alloy the other week and the tyre only had a little scuff on it.

7 tyres since April? How is that possible? That's some seriously bad luck (or poor judgement!) to go through that many tyres.

Spoken for the truth, nothing is worse than hearing the noise of an allow slowly scraping along a kurb.

The zolders on my golf were kerb magnets!

Also managed to split a sidewall on a half height kurb due to an oncoming car wanting to be in my lane

Let's just say, from my view it looked like a dropped curb. Didn't realise Mount Everest was right next to my wheel.

About the 7 tyres. It had 4 new ones then 2 n half months later I realised I ruined the front set due to being a bit too spirited whilst driving and bad alignment. So bought 2 new tyres and had a wheel alignment done at Halfords auto centre.

Agreed. I've curbed an alloy once* and never wish to do so again.

*Car windscreen was misted up, thought it had cleared so drove off down a dark road. A Car parked facing me turned on their headlights and all I could see was glare from the still misted up screen. Should have stopped but ended up kissing the kurb. :(

A lot can be said for having 16" non low profile tyres. Cheaper to replace, less likely to kurb, ride comfort etc.
