Hello OCUK,
im building a PC for my gf for her Sims 3 games. Im trying to stay within a budget (£300), plus/minus abit. I have picked parts that I believe will run Sims 3, although I would like some confirms as I am not a shark with todays hardware. I also need to know if everything is compatible.

I am 100% open to changing parts if some believe it is a better choice.
Here are the parts: http://peecee.dk/uploads/082012/PC.jpg

Side-question:
I havent built a PC before, and im in doubt regarding motherboard, cpu and cpu-cooler. Is it possible to do so much wrong, that it can ruin the entire system? Or is it easy-peasy with a guide next to you?

That should be fine on Sims 3 my spec is pretty much the same and had no issues when the ex GF used to play it however the motherboard is incompatible with the CPI you have chosen.

you need AM3 or AM3+ socket like this one

Okay, thank you very much. Did it run fluently (60fps) or with semi-good fps (30-40fps)? And what resolution did you run at?

Also, the motherboard, is it a reliable one? I dont know squad about good motherboards. I know I have an Asus and have worked for many years now, never had experience with Gigabyte.

Take it you dont need HDD, OS, monitor etc.

No, she will get monitor herself as im paying for PC. Rest I have.

Thank you very much for the recommendation, heres my questions though...
First of all, I am willing to spend the extra ~£40 on the parts I list if what I get is a big difference, thing is I dont know, as like I said I dont know much about todays hardware. I wanna make sure the game runs at a smooth framerate with no stuttering.

Another thing to be aware of is the fact that the monitor will be running least 1600x900 resolution, but as well likely 1920x1080 (idk what monitor specifically shes getting). How well will my list and your list do in these resolutions, and performance in general?

Sorry if I ask much, I just wanna make sure I get everything right.
