The quality of for sale adverts

So you're judging a car based on the owners grasp of say how to lay out an Autotrader advert and also how to use a digital camera and how to use a PC.

I'm only taking my latest experience as an example, poor advert, three blurry pictures and two line of text, what it actually was was a 65 year old retired finance guy in a very nice detached house in a private estate who kept the car in a heated carpeted garage, only used it on weekends and trips to the 'yacht club' and 'ski chalet' (as labelled in the sat nav), the only reason he was selling privately was he fell out with BMW, he had never sold a car privately before.

I do agree though the adverts that say too much put me off, all I want to see it the specs of the car and some decent photos

I'm judging a car based on a lot of stuff, the advert being one. Not so much not high quality photos, more photos of the interior where they couldnt be bothered to remove the crisp packs or vacuum it, etc etc.

As for your advert IIRC I found it and posted it in your thread suggesting it, so clearly it didn't fail my advert tests ;)

Use it to your advantage. A car with a really poor advert shouldn't get as much interest as an identical car with a reasonable ad, so you should be able to knock them down more.

Correct. Didn;t somebody on here get a steal of a BMW for way under market value and it was immaculate but the guy had listed only a few words and one pic taken on a nokia 3210?????

As above, you can spot the adverts that are crap because it's a non-IT literate guy from the ones that are crap because the owner is a prat.

Nobody is suggesting you only buy adverts formed of the most perfect queens English with 10 professional photographs of a freshly detailed car.

Other side of the coin. This was posted up in motors the other day and struck
E a great example of how to sell a car

Nooooo, he lives on an estate, surely you'd not buy from such a person? I need someone with a long drive, gates, gravel, no tattoo's and certainly no cokkerneee accent. They also need to have kids in private school, a man who does 'their grounds' and ideally investments in the Cayman islands.

My boss then? :p

Only thing is the car he has that is due to come up for sale is tuned up drug dealer purple Range Rover Sport!

Yes crap adverts that fail to show interior pics and fail to mention key things such as ads that say "low mileage for age".... well what's the mileage then? Get pointed and laughed at.

Likewise ones that do but have obviously never seen the nozzle end of a vacuum cleaner suffer the same fate!

IMO if you are looking to secure a sale on a car quicker then at least spend £30 on a new set of mats and throw the rubbish away. Common sense above all else.
