Hi gang? This is my first post and I am stuck for advice, so I wish to build a media server to house all my blu-ray collection to watch films in my cinema room. I may be wrong I may be correct please note I'm a mere individual who is looking advice and I wish not not be be ridiculed for saying something that is not correct, that's why I'm here, I'm looking your advice if my project is doable or is it wrong or is there a better way of going about doing things. I would prefer my scenario and would be an added benefit to my growing digital world.
Pc case is the Lian Li PC-A71F.. Mother board Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-GEN3, which has HDMI output and on board graphics.. Raid card Adaptec RAID 6805E, to connect 8 x 3Tb hard drives Western Digital Red's.. No graphics card because I'm using the above motherboard which has graphics along with the Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155, which also has graphics on board, so do I need a dedicated graphics card or will the included motherboard and Intel processor graphics suffice for what it will be used for which is streaming video to my AV receiver..
So can this video work straight from the HDMI out on the motherboard to the input of my Anthem MRX 300 HDMI input on my AV receiver. I take it I do not need a graphics card as it is already included and is merely for transferring video to the av amplifier to view on my main 10' screen that is ten feet of screen real estate, thrown by a Pioneer HD 3D Projector?
Can I also install an SSD Adata XPG SX900 512GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive use this for the boot section for the operating system to boot this media server and regular 3Tb hard drives along with the Adaptec RAID card for the storing of my media files as this scenario would allow me quick access times while booting my media server when needed, this will not be connected to the internet also it will not be on all the time either only when needed.
I'm also going to install a Scythe Kama Rack 5.25 front rack so I can hot swap from my main computer to this server computer by hot swappable front facing sata ssd or regular 2.5'' standard laptop hard drives for the transferring of my media files to this server..
Last piece of tech will be the ubiquitous LG CH10LS28 BD-ROM 10x BluRay ROM drive.
So gang what do you think a sweet wee system for the film Blu ray enthusiast I have built many computers now this will be my first server build specifically designed for the playback of my Blu ray files hopefully 24Tb will be enough space for 533 full resolution Blu Ray films and the drives can be swapped out as and when needed to make room for new media.
So there you go, I will wait patiently on any advice even if you have built one yourself please nod me in the right direction, and if this post is in the wrong place please accept my apologies..
Thank you
