We Need A Government Like This...

Nice generalisation there.

What about the native Brits who live in places where jobs are practically non-existent ?

Or to the job centre. I REALLY don't believe that there is somewhere where there are no jobs at all. I do believe however, that there are places where people don't want to do street cleaning or something like that which is somehow "below" them. But there are jobs out there...

Or do as Muffin said :o

Having just checked my local council website, there are no jobs being offered. At all. So even street cleaning isn't up for grabs.

But let's continue making accusations about people not going for jobs because they believe particular jobs to be beneath them.

Edit: And checking the neighbouring council website, there are no jobs offered there either. None. At all.

Where are you based?

Northern Ireland. Like it makes a difference. There's a few jobs listed on Belfast City Councils website. But none of them are street cleaning. Unless "environmental protection officer" is a fancy term for "street cleaner". Most of the advertised jobs have met the closing date though. Only a handful are still open.

Point is this "people aren't applying for jobs because they think the jobs are beneath them" line is daily mail-esque ********.

Poor people, that's not backbone that's cruel. Look at their faces, so needy, just wanting a better life, they work hard, just looking for a chance.

French should be ashamed, they have just as much right to have a decent life as we do.

some do work hard but some don't

Only looking at the Council is not an excuse for lack of employment try looking at the much larger and diverse private sector, there will be local jobs. if there's nothing local that you wand you can look across the Irish Sea, granted it's not easy but if it's the difference between having a job and moaning about not having one I know what I'd be doing.

Much like those who were born in the country (regardless of where the country is located). It's just much easier to round them all up and ship them out than go through the process of determining who's working to a level that the current government deems acceptable to remain in the country.

My point was in relation to street cleaning jobs which are most likely to appear on the district councils own website as well as in the job centre.

I have a job thanks. I was pointing out that this continual "people are refusing jobs that are beneath them" is ********. Not to mention that there IS a lack of jobs available despite what daily mail readers would like to believe.

It's not Daily Mail-esque, it's true, the proof is how many economic immigrants find employment.

True? Do you have facts and figures to show that people born in this country are refusing work they believe is beneath them. That would make interesting reading.

Ok street cleaning was an example geeze...

There are 249 results from your search for all jobs in Belfast (County Antrim).
This search is for postcode BT1 4JF with a radius of 15 miles.

From job centre website. Granted its not that many, but there are still some (if the location is correct). :o

true.

Would be better if we can also boot out those who were born in this country but don't work.

Can I turn around your questions and ask for you to prove that people are not turning down jobs because they're too far away or beneath them?

No you can't because I didn't make any such claim. I said that the repeated line of people turning down work because it is beneath them is ********.

According to your own evidence, a very small scale scheme has led some people to think that there might be 25,000 people in the country who would refuse to work 40 hours a week as unpaid indentured servitude in exhange for £67.50 from the state.

That's not evidence in support of the claim you made.

No what it does show is that those people stopped claiming, so they found a job or another way to support themselves. The scheme is not there to be a job it's there to help you find employment by giving you skills you need and employers want.

It still doesn't back up what you said.
