Im trying to download using Utorrent

At the moment I have a red ! at the bottom right.

Ive added the port to the superhubs exception list and windows firewall is set to allow it but its still red.

Any ideas y?
 
it says utorrent is being blocked by windows/fire wall.

Ive managed to get rid of that one now.

But now its saying no incomming connections orange ! instead
 
ive determined its virgin that are causing it.

I started some this morning at it was a green tick. then at 12pm it went orange.

When its their P2P throttling time i get orange ! on Utorrent when its no limiting its green.

I also rang them up this morning and they said I had gone over the download limit in 1 afternoon. oops. so they had slowed my speeds down to 30Mbs. Still 5X faster than my BT so not too fussed.
 
Why don't you run the tests?

P2P throttling isn't necessarily going to stop incoming connections.
 
Oh LOL I use Virgin Media ...always have....and I get up to nearly 8 Megs when downloading some files....I have never set up port forwarding n so on.....although I do have unlimited downloads and a Fibre Optic Connection :D

EDIT:...why don't you ask them for a deal where you can get unlimited downloads ?

it's not about unlimited downloads. you can download as much as you want but you will still be throttled for downloading too much at certain times. Everything, even their 100Mb service from VM has traffic management.


As for the issue with uTorrent, I think it's most likely wrong configuration rather than an issue due to VM.

Actually if you read what he posted ...he said he rang them and they ( Virgin Media ) told him he had gone over his download limit, thats why hes speeds were slower :D

every 1 has download limits at peak times its their new fair usage policy. its summing like more than 5GB downloaded between 5pm and 9 pm week days and 12 til 00 weekends.

They throttle your p2p speeds and normal internet gets 50% throttle.

Agreed :)

Virgin have said that they Will and Do cut speeds by half for those who download too much :D
