Recognition for long-serving forum members?

There is already some nice 'fluff' (as the OP puts it) for long-standing members and for those with post counts. Free delivery, member's market, and as already mentioned - recognition in the form of man of honour status. I think there's an extra/secret forum when you hit 5,000 posts. Not sure if it's truth or just a meme or an in-joke though.

Yeah I don't think you're owed anything just because you signed up before others. If you really want the perks then post more. Lurking doesn't get you anything... and I have been lurking for years (check my ****** postcount)! :P

I have an account on another forum with one of the highest 'Ranks' attainable. I am never active there however, have very little posts and would never expect recognition or access to forum benefits because I could type in a Nick-name, email and password and click Submit.

It's the pr0n sub-forum and it's more than 5,000!

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to gain access to the 'fluff' via the traditional method. I also recognise that MoH status (albiet a very subjective differentiation based on the mod's opinions) is a nice little extra. I'd like to add that at no point have I said old accounts are more valuable than those who post lots, just that we deserve a little recognition too.

Only for some *cries*

As for the OP: If you post and contribute over time you will be appreciated by other forum members, though you might not even know about it or even have anything to 'show' for it. If you make a particularly outstanding contribution you may be lucky enough to get MoH status. But I don't understand why anyone would expect anything based on time alone with no basis on contribution.

Also, I could be wrong, but had you thought to register for the MM before the rule change then you'd still have access now? You just left it too late :p
