Hey.. Just bought BF3. Donwloaded Origin, installed it, its on my desktop, I double click it nothing happens... Rebooted/ reinstalled at least 5 times. Still nothing, turned off firewalls, still nothing.

Running windows 7 64 bit.

Please help. :D

Yeah, I have, no result. Its not showing up in my Task manager either, its like something is stopping it from actually opening, but its not my firewall/antivirus as I turned them off and it still isn't working.

:(

Welcome to the joys of origin... It's rubbish and annoying.

Anyone know how to stop the "featured" games box appearing?

This is actually a pretty common issue.

How i solved it.

1. run origin as admin
2. validate the install and it will re-download any corrupt parts
3. Make sure you open all the necessary ports for bf3 (google them)
4. make sure your firewall is not blocking it.
5. update drivers for your graphics card.

the main one is the ports, if origin can't talk to the servers i can't get it to load.

f you are playing on PC, please enable the following online ports on your connection:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300

edit: make sure TCP 9988 is open. Opening this port solved most of my issues about not being able to load origin and the game.

you have to be able to get into origin first. Try opening the ports and hopefully that will allow you to open origin.

to validate the install you right click on the cover art image of BF3 and theres an option. (it only validates the install of the game and not origin)

oh ok,

have you installed it on your OS drive, i believe origin now only works on the OS drive for some strange reason.

try compatibility mode. right click on the origin icon and click properties. Compatability tab, then click 'Run this program in compatibility mode for'

the select vista, and see if that works

Nothing daft like UAC sitting on the exe blocking it before it gets a chance is it? Make another admin account and see if it loads.
