Well under Harry VDV usually played deep and Bale started off quite successful on the wing but became a bit of a free role and decide to shoot from everywhere, though its worth mentioning he got very close very often but overall his goals/shots ratio was pretty terrible.

A preseason, some focused training, he might end up being more of a striker for you this year, not seen preseason Spurs games so no idea if they've tried that or what AVB is up to there.

I'd be more worried about AVB than a striker, though I said earlier that there is every chance AVB might see his time at Chelsea as such a massive failure he completely changes his style, personally I don't really see it. Also Spurs fans seem to constantly under rate Defoe, give him games, he'll score, simply as, his height has never effected that ability before, why would it magically this year. Spurs don't play in a way that height is important in the slightest.

They've screwed up though badly, wasted the whole summer not getting the Modric deal done and waiting around on Ade rather than going for better strikers, better value strikers and ones who aren't problematic. Hell trying Rhodes or someone wouldn't have cost much and might end up with a gem of a goal scorer.

Happy with the Rodwell signing. 100% a Marwood signing which is slightly disappointing but I'm sure that Mancini will work well with him and he can be a good player for us.

A good possibility he will slot in at CB in a 352 or otherwise play alongside Yaya.

NdJ is rumoured to be off but he didn't look like it today. Kolo and Dzeko on the other hand. Storming down the tunnel and giving their medals away, Disrespectful tbh.

Edit; Dzeko didn't throw his medal but Kolo did it nearly hit me!

Wouldn't surprise me to see Spurs come up with a deadline day deal for a striker, even if it is a loan deal.

If I was in their shoes I wouldn't be scared to take a chance, maybe a south american, although in recent years the Brazillian league seems to have got a lot richer so you can't just poach talent on the cheap anymore. Gotta be someone who got 30 goals in Holland if all else fails.

it's leaning to bale being more of a striker than a winger. he's always been number 3 for us, this season he has the number 9 shirt.

and you're right about defoe, redknapp treated him badly (considering he bought him in - getting saha and starting him over defoe!) and his finishing is tip top, good strength and guile when he's in a crowded box. it's the lack of options other than him that worries me, it really has gone on too long for it not to be a genuine concern now.

we won all but one of our pre-season games (lost 2-0 to valencia) and we looked ok but still not concrete in defence which worries me. i would really like to see kaboul progress, he's decent but we scored goals from midfield and it was good to see the trend continue.

just seen this on fb
Liverpool Agree £18m Deal to Sign Bologna Youngster Gaston Ramirez According to Reports.

come on spurs, get with the programme!

Mateusz Borek, a polish commentator, said today that Man Utd have bid €30m for Robert Lewandowski; €8m a year contract for 5 years.

Interesting... I'd certainly prefer him to Welbeck and Hernandez, and he's a lot younger than van Persie.

Source is obviously not solid, but he's definitely said it.

God damn you Eatchipz! :p

I defiantly would love Lewandowski at Man Utd another Dortmund player I would love at Man Utd would be Mario Gotze!

Dortmund have a crazy amount of talent!

Massive Twitter explosion of Owen signing to be announced tomorrow... welcome to your true home Michael. :D

"There's no news on van Persie," Wenger told the Sun. "Our fans want him to stay so you can understand they are excited. Anything I could say about van Persie would be a lie because he's our player and that's it.

"Robin scored 30 goals last season and you want to keep your best player. He was player of the year in England. We want to keep him. I cannot tell you more at the moment because I don't know more.

"We have not bought the players to replace van Persie, but to strengthen our squad with the thinking van Persie will stay. That's still my mind at the moment."

Not giving much away at the moment. Hopefully we'll offer £20m and the board will make the decision on his behalf.

Is Ramirez any good

Very raw, has a lot of potential by all accounts. We were linked to him a fair bit by all the no swearingter morons at the start of the transfer window but all the links were blown out the water by proper journos as our interest ended when Camoli left by all reports.

Times reporting that Man City wont meet our £27mill valuation for Agger, but we wont budge due to their previous spending habits and them paying £15mill for the average dross that is Rodwell.

Cant see where Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, RVP AND Lewandowski fit in so surely it's a case of either RVP or Lewandowski? Either way I thought the rumours were we'd agreed a deal for Lewandowski but he wouldn't be signing till next summer? Guess we'll see.....

Yeah, we can't fit them all in. It would be RvP or Lewandowski, not both.

As for which I'd prefer, it would have to be RvP as he's a bigger name and can deliver the goods without question in the league, but Lewandowski could end up being a lot better over time and would probably be a better investment. I certainly think he's currently better than both Welbeck and Hernandez anyway.

I'm not sure why we'd agree a deal for Lewandowski for next summer? Either we need him now or we don't, a year won't change anything except Welbeck and Hernandez will both be a year older and less happy to sit on the bench?

The reason defoe is loathed by many spurs fans is the same as why crouch wasn't liked. They will both bag goals but masively hinder build up play. Defoe is a selfish player who never passes and instead shoots no matter where he is on the pitch. You play with 10 men because when the ball reaches Defoe, you wont see it again.

I think the next summer thing would be more for Dortmund's benefit rather than ours

After Spurs starting the window so well we have messed up big time, I was looking forward to business getting done, players in and out and a good pre season.

Fail.

2 strikers
A keeper
Modric out and a replacment in or we force him to stay? That wont end well

Worried.
