***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Yeh I think the angle was weird, I was dreading turning it over and low and behold my worst fears were imagined, but, its not the end of the world at least it still works I guess *cries*

Has anyone had any problems with the back casing giving a crazing cracks around it? also it has a splitting crack from the headphone port down to the edge of the back side, this phone has never been dropped...

If you had a case, which covered all the sides like the diztronic, it probably would have been fine.

You say that but I've seen phones in all round cases getting cracked screens in my line of worked these are business users with blackberry and iphones! k

would that case, not allow the camera lense to touch a surface If placed down or does the lense touch a surface when placed down.

Kenneth.

True it could have happened with that case as well, however, the reason the screen cracked was most likely due to the concrete impacting the top or bottom edge, which are exposed with those sort of cases like the rock, nillkin etc. with the TPU cases these edges are covered. Also the diztronic TPU matte case is more of a rubbery case, not hard plastic like the rock therefore it has some form of shock absorption, which would also have helped for impacts like that.

You can't deny that the TPU diztronic case protects the device better overall and the chances of things happening like that are less likely than with rock etc. cases.

Only reason to go for the rock, nillkin cases etc. is to keep the sleek, minimal look for the front of the phone.

Also do you know how these people got their screens cracked when using a case covering all edges? For all we know, they could have dropped the phone and been extremely unlucky and had the screen hit the corner of a desk or the corner of something else in which case all cases are useless apart from flip cases and thick/hard pouches.

Besides the iphone isn't exactly good for durability anyway even with a case on :p

Pretty sure it would stop the camera lens touching the desk surface etc. as the GS 3 camera lens is slightly sunk below the rest of the mobile anyway (IIRC), where as with my S, the camera lens sticks out by about 1mm and is now below the surface of the diztronic case (you can see my review of the diztronic case here

Yes, I have this :(

Are both these phones white ?

Reason I ask is this was apparently the reason the Blue phones got delayed due to the hyperglaze coating. I wonder if the white ones suffer from it.

pretty new to this rooting game and I've already made a major mistake. I was renaming my SU binary to gain access to the barclays banking app (stupid I know) and inadvertently broken my root. Is it simply a matter of re-rooting with odin or is there something else I need to do? Don't want to brick my phone attempting to fix this.

Mobilefun have confirmed black S3 and in stock within 4-6 weeks.

Edit*
Product page is up.

I've been using CM9 for a few days now and absolutely love it.
It's nice being back to stock Android, I much prefer it over TouchWiz and Sense

Hi all,

quick question, whats everyones method for backing up when moving to a new rom if you need to wipe?

I use titanium back up but it backs up everything, and some apps like the samsung ones, you dont want restored if you move to CM9 or similar?

how do you get around this

Just untick the ones you dont want??, not sure as the only time ive used titanium backup was to a do a full backup of everything but am pretty sure you can choose which apps you want and dont want.

Well, mine arrived this morning. First impressions after a couple of hours are positive. Still setting it up, and need to take a crash course in rooting the thing, too.

Robbo, in case you're wondering, the One X and Note are leaving me today, so this best be good! :D

Finally took the plunge and bought the blue one sim-free, arriving tomorrow along with a couple of cases. :D

What's the best current ROM to use?
