Hey guys. Firstly sorry for another thread asking for advice from the dell outlet.
Ive never owned a laptop for anything other than browsing and i've got £400-450 to spend on a laptop for myself for light gaming and the usual stuff. Looking to play CS:GO and nothing too demanding. Ive spotted a laptop with the following spec for £440 delivered. My first question is does this seem decent value and will I be able to play the new cs on it. Im not looking for ultra settings just to run it with a decent framerate.

Inspiron 15R - 5520
Processor: Intel Core i5-3210M (up to 3.1 GHz, 3MB cache)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
4 GB DDR3 Dual Channel 1600MHz SDRAM Memory (1 DIMM)
1 TB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
8X DVD+/-RW Drive
Display: 15.6 inch High Definition LED Display (1366 x 768) with TrueLife
Graphics : 1GB AMD Radeon HD 7670M
English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64Bit OS)
Back Up Media Not Included
Wireless : Dell Wireless 1704 Card
LCD Back Cover: Moon Silver Switch Cover
Battery : Primary 6 Cell 48W/HR
Internal Qwerty Keyboard

My second question is. Im presuming this is coming from the US. Is it likely that im going to have to pay tax once its delivered?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Plenty of those are for sale on the euro dell outlet mate so no need to get one shipped from the USA. If you have been quoted in £ then you are on the right outlet and i believe they are sent from china, you wont pay any import on them 440 will be the full price. Normally takes up to two weeks to get it though.

N yeah i believe that you should be fine with that spec. Just look up the card on notebookreviews and see how it fares benchmark wise.

Ah cool. I was given the option to change wether I was tax exempt or something so that threw me, but yes I was quoted in pounds. I'll have a look on that website. Thanks a lot mate :)

Ok. So ive spotted another with a 2GB card and now im not sure which to buy. Im ready to click buy so if someone could clear this up id appreciate it. New one is this spec compared to spec in OP.

XPS L502x
Processor: Intel Core i5-2450M (2.50 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
6 GB Dual Channel DDR3 1333MHz Memory (2 DIMMs)
Hard Drive : 500GB Serial ATA II (7200 RPM) Hard Drive
8X DVD +/- RW DRIVE
Display : 15.6inch HD WLED True-Life (1366x768) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card
English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64Bit OS)
Wireless: Intel Wireless-N 1000 Card
LCD Back Cover : Silver WLAN
Battery : Primary 9-cell 90W/HR LI-ION
Internal Qwerty Keyboard

Main question. Is a 1GB 7670 better than a 2GB GT 540M Graphics card?

Many thanks, FiCtioN.

Cheers. Ordered the 5520. Unfortunately I ended up ordering 2 so ive got to give them a ring in the morning to cancel one. What a tool!
Anyway got 6gb of ram instead of 4 and delivery was free so ended up only being 430.

Cheers, FiCtioN.

Good luck tryin to cancel mate, u will be told its too late and already shipped. Will have to wait for it to be delivered and then return it lol.

They're better than they used to be. As long as there isn't a glitch they will be able to cancel before it is shipped.

I actually ordered the L502x as quoted above (in part because I didn't see the 5520 with the 7670 graphics card!). Components-wise the 5520 has a different processor which looks to be newer (ivy bridge as opposed to sandy bridge?) and the graphics card which seems to be slightly better, although is there anything in it that amd gpus don't perform so well with intel cpus?. On the 502x side it has more ram and a 7200rpm drive (and a 9 cell battery). Not sure which display is better, if at all. Is the 5520 a bit better overall then, or is there really not that much of a difference?

There's another 5520 on there where the only difference to the one above seems to be it has a 500gb hdd, and that comes in at £400 inc vat and delivery, if the 5520 performs better I'll order that and cancel the xps.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Laptop got delivered this morning. They have sent the model I asked for, however the gfx card is the HD4000 which I think if just the onboard. Im livid. Any advice before I ring dell?

Maybe it has the discrete graphics too but it switches to it as necessary?

In our at the minute but will have a fiddle about when I get home. Seem to remember seeing an AMD logo on settings somewhere. Also defiantly seen that catalyst control centre or what ever it's called. Cheers, FiCtioN

Reet. Had 5 mins in before I had to dash out again. Saw no ATI but saw an Radeon HD. Also saw something which said switchable graphics but nothing that said 7970M. Ran a quick stress test on CS:Source and got average 180 fps. Wether that's anything to go by I don't know.

Someone else may be able to confirm whether this is foolproof or not but you should be able to check by going Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager (sub option under devices and printers) -> click display adaptors and see what is listed under it.

Incidentally I got the same laptop as you and mine has both HD4000 and the 7670 graphics card. Seems the computer makes use of both of them, although I don't think I've yet run anything that would stress it enough to need the 7670m so am only assuming that!

I just did the above and can confirm that it does indeed have the 7670 listed. Phew. Thats a result. Thanks for your help :)
