i don't know what way this is going to go an am certainly not getting my hopes up. the season starts on saturday, we've cut it too fine. summer interest/rumour in lloris, moutinho, sahin, damiao and now m'vila and still nothing sorted on adebayor! even if we did get one of those targets, they will have had no pre-season with us. modric situation still not sorted, no keeper sorted, only defoe and kane as out and out strikers, it's a bit of a mess tbh, especially with a new manager.

i know levy has had personal problems with his wife being ill and i'm truely sorry for that but does everything have to be done by levy? where's the contingency, it's poor for a team like spurs tbh, at this rate, i can't see us getting 4th again.
 
I would imagine Spurs will adopt a 4-3-3 style with Bale and Lennon supporting Defoe up top. The midfield trio will be Sandro, VdV and Gylfi I would assume. That would allow it to quickly become a midfield 5 when we lose the ball, it was the formation he attempted with Chelsea but they didnt have the personnel that suited it.

Still think a decent forward is needed though as Kane isn't a proven top flight player.
 
Daniel Agger has admitted he would like to stay at Liverpool, but admits the situation is out of his hands.

Manchester City and Barcelona are chasing Agger with Premier League champions City believed to have seen two bids already rejected for the classy central defender.

City are thought to be readying a third bid for Agger with Roberto Mancini keen to bring in the defender before the close of the transfer window.

It has been suggested Liverpool could be prepared to sell Agger for the right price as they could use the funds to strengthen the squad elsewhere.

Agger, who is away on international duty with Denmark for Wednesday's friendly with Slovenia, claims he is unaware of interest in his services and hopes he can stay at Anfield.

"No, I haven't heard anything, Agger told Ekstra Bladet when asked about his future.

"That is how the club wants to do it. I would prefer to stay.

"I can't imagine playing for other clubs in England. But, you never know if the club prefers to sell me."

Man City have probably given up on him after signing Rodwell though I imagine?
 
Pretty bog standard statement that both protects him from Liverpool fans hating him and lets City know he's completely open to a move. All he has to do when signing for City is claim that while he loved Liverpool he welcomes the chance to join a club in the CL and challenging for titles and he truly respects the project they've undertaken and has always loved the atmosphere the City fans generate..... etc.


The only thing that always surprises me is how fans lap this crap up like its heart felt, real and all these players have always been fans of the clubs they join.... and the next club they join.... and the next one.
 
lol @ it being out of his hands. Wonder if it would be out of his hands if Liverpool decided they wanted to sell him to Stevenage....

An example of a player genuinely not wanting to move to City - Kaka when Milan accepted that ridiculous bid, no more out of Agger's hands now than it was Kaka's then.

@Above, why would you force a stay if you weren't wanted? I know if I was playing for Liverpool and they actually didn't want me I'd leave 'for the good of the team'.

I will be surprised if we bid again for Agger. Rodwell I feel has been bought not to play CB but provides the cover Agger would have. However we may go with Rodwell as a very deep midfielder with Kompany and Lescott behind him.

Something like this;

Clichy-Nasri--Yaya---Silva---Richards
--------------Rodwell--------------
------Kompany--------Lescott------
-----------------Hart---------------
Rodwell, Kompany, Lescott, Richards and Clichy dropping back into a 532 when we don't have the ball.

Accepting a bid that is too good to refuse is slightly different to not wanting a player, a lot of the time with high money transfers the selling club will still come out and say they didn't want to sell.

I feel for you as Newcastle have been just the same.

Good season, chance to build and solidify our position..... No signings. Going round the local press the senior players are irate at the lack of signings. Great opportunity missed IMO.
