What is the appeal of sports games?

Its not about people getting insulted or offended.....most will have just shrugged off your silly comments.

Forums such as these are social areas, where people with similar interests share thoughts and debate and along with that, it requires a certain level of social decorum.

You clearly lack a certain level of social skills, as you have a number of people disagreeing with your comments (whether they are insulted or not is irrelevant) and so this leads me to think that you associate people that play Fifa as cool or popular (or "badass" as you put it).....something you arent and you resent that and thus your hatred of Fifa players.

The Wow stereotype is a general stereotype of the worst that that genre can have. It's not representative of all, but definitely of some.

Now apply "It's not representative of all, but definitely of some" to your fifa stereotype - and the worst players of that genre. In fact, just apply your stereotype to young males, and the worst of them. Kinda fits, and it's nowt to do with sports games ;)

I see your point but I would argue that it dosen't matter whether its my stereotype or a general stereotype, at the end of the day it's still a belief that dosen't accurately portray the involved party.
People have and will continue to use stereotypes regardless.

You obviously misinterpreted that example I was giving, I don't think people who play fifa as cool or badass.
Your logic is full of fallacies.

No...you misinterpret me.....that comment was not a logic, but an opinion of you, based on your comments in this thread.

I think the actual context of the story here is the OP doesn't like sport, and he made this thread to have a bash at people who play sport games in the virtual world.

I do like sports actually, I am a long distance swimmer and cyclist myself. I just don't see the appeal in sport games.

Admit the OP is a n***, mmo, fantasy games, all his friends play mmos, I mean, this guy loves angels and pixies so his argument is invalid

It completely matters whether it's an actual stereotype held by many, or whether it's your opinion based upon your own experiences.

Your stereotype of Fifa players could be attributed in some part to any young (or youngish) male group. Therefore, it's irrelevant, as it doesn't represent what it is supposed to. Basically, it's based upon a select few people you know and my recommendation to you would be to get to know some other people.

My point was not that it's wrong to stereotype, in fact the majority of stereotypes are at least partially true, that's how they became generally accepted. The generally accepted bit is what makes it a stereotype, or commonly held belief. I think the responses to this thread show that your opinion is not a commonly held belief.

Anyway, can't type much more, I've lost my crack pipe so I'm going to have to steal a new one and then spend an age finding some foil in a neighbours bin :)

They tend to frown upon people throwing bananas on the track, not to mention the trouble you get into with the RSPCA for painting turtles red and lobbing them at your mates!

Also go-karting can be quite expensive, whereas it costs a couple of quid to buy a ball and have a kickabout
 
People play them because they are enjoyable.

My favourite series (in any genre) is Pro Evo, favourite game Pro Evo 4, your shooty shooty bang bang games don't come close to the amount of fun I've had with those titles over the years :p.
