Henriquez? He's not ready for the first team at the moment and it won't be a particularly big fee, so I don't think it will affect that.

signing for the reserves (whoever he goes to)?

I supose with Keane out for the season (effectively) that might make sense

edit - so Gill's statement " we are hoping to sign a couple of players before the season" (or words to that effect) were implying two strikers (one of which is reserve) - grrrrr

What I'm saying is that he's fine with the fact that City have bid and how we're dealing with it - he's not, as you keep speculating, upset that the club might consider a huge offer for him.

And the fact that English isn't his first language shouldn't be a problem seeing as the interview was in Danish and that's just a translation of what's been said.

Well that's your interpretation of it, I keep reading he would rather stay and be wanted by Liverpool, but doesn't want to stay somewhere he isn't wanted - therefore probably a bit annoyed Liverpool willing to sell him.

The difference between saying 'my situation' and 'the situation' is a fair bit different, my could easily imply my situation in being at Liverpool FC. Maybe it was 'the' in Danish and poorly translated, because 'my' isn't very conclusive and would really hint towards fine with being at Liverpool since it is where he constantly reiterates is where he wants to be if wanted by the club.

I imagine he'll play with the reserves for a season to get settled in the country, or go on loan somewhere perhaps.

As Tom mentioned above, he's been on trial with us several times since he was 15 so appears to effectively be 'our' player.

There's also talk that we're in for Swansea's Neil Taylor, who plays left-back, have you seen that?

He doesn't say that. He says he's fine with his situation.

You've gone from selectively quoting Agger to suit your argument to twisting what he's said and adding your assumptions to suit your argument.

As I said, either take everything he says with a pinch of salt or believe it all.

Holy ****, can you not see you could interpret 'I'm fine with my situation' as 'I'm fine with my situation (at Liverpool)' and therefore not want to move and would prefer to stay as opposed to I'm fine being up for sale?

I never twisted what he said, if I did that it would imply I'd quoted him as saying something he didn't, I'm saying he could feel slightly annoyed with the fact Liverpool are happy to sell him(Not going to say this directly are you? I'm sure he hardly fancies a worse contract if the move to City doesn't go through?)??

As I've said, open your eyes and see things can be interpreted in different ways, what he said isn't clear cut. If it was I'd agree with you but you just seem to ignore it and it can only be seen the way you see it.

as opposed to I'm fine being up for sale?

There you go again. He's not up for sale - City bid, we rejected. If City offer us a huge amount, we might consider it and then it will be down to Agger's wishes.

And as I've said, he says separately and specifically that he wants to stay at Liverpool. That and the fact that he's referring to a question about City's interest and is commenting on Liverpool's stance makes it pretty clear that when he says he's fine with his situation, he's not simply saying he wants to stay. I think it reads to most people that he's fine with what's going on and unlike you, he's not overly sensitive.

Carry on twisting things he's said, making assumptions based on things he hasn't said and then using something Agger has said as conclusive proof that that's the absolute situation though.

I suspect we'll sell him to lower our wage bill though - like we did with Suarez and about to do with Skrtel too.

Papers say 4 million for henriquez . City trying to hijack according to the mirror.

Pretty sure this is the kid that we signed about 6 or more months ago but left with his parent club. As mentioned, we were supposed to have been watching him for years and had tied up a £4m deal earlier this year.

Sounds like a good little player but you tend to get what you pay for in the end. Chicharito has yet to show us the form of his first season and is looking more like an average deal compared to his perceived value after his first season.

That his statements are open to interpretation in the first place says a whole lot.

Probably worth leaving this until a bid is accepted, like I said before I do also think he'll be fine with staying so there is no issue until Liverpool accept.

If we're considering selling him, he is up for sale :)

If you put something up for sale, you're actively looking to sell. If somebody approaches you and makes you an offer that you can't refuse, it's a very different scenario.

Agger's up for sale in the same way that any player at near enough any club is up for sale. In fact, he's up for sale in the same way that nearly any possession owned by near enough any person is up for sale.

Right so if we're willing to sell he is up for sale then?

@wedgie, if he had said 'the' situation there wouldn't be anything to interpret, in fact it would be pretty clear he is probably happier going to City, but he said my situation which could easily mean my situation = playing for Liverpool. Although it would seem that is crazy wild speculation from myself....

United have a first option clause on him that expires next year or something.

That's the thing, nobody can actually know yet which is all we're saying. He doesn't get to test his metal until a bid is accepted. Unless he comes out before then with an unequivocal I am not moving to City or anywhere else, there's nothing too much to read into what anyone is saying other than the usual transfer dance we've all seen a million times before.
