And not awful luck in front of goal either, also we started shipping some more goals when Lucas went out. (Potentially did when Agger was out with rib injury, can't remember.) Also what he offers us in bringing the ball forward is important also.

I'd like to fast forward a year and see what this team right now can achieve, i feel the quality is there for much more than last but we just didn't have much luck, had Suarez banned and just being generally bad/****** press the entire year.

I can't honestly see Liverpool doing much better this season. Like you said, you were a bit unlucky in front of goal and had Suarez banned for 8 odd games(?) but most of the other "top" teams had mares too.

Arsenal had a dire start to the season and should do much better all round this year. Chelsea shouldn't have such a dire year again. Tottenham might manage to win some games when it actually matters towards the end of the season.

Basically Liverpool had a bad year but so did most of the top 6-7 teams by their standards. Of all the teams competing for CL I think that Liverpool have strengthened least (bar Tottenham of course but who needs strikers).

You sure about that?

Yes. We're not likely to finish any worse in the league than last season with or without Agger and we'll be in the same situation as now, trying to catch those above us.

The potential upside is greater than the potential downside if we get a big fee, in my opinion.

It's not £22m. It's £22m + three years at £220k/week. Suddenly it's £56m.

He's undoubtably an awesome player... but, I don't think he's worth a £56m punt, given his history with injuries, and current age (no resale value).

I doubt resale value even enters Ferguson's mind, ever. I think he's seeing a player he's wanted for a while and can't believe his luck that he's available. I don't think injuries will be a problem for him and he has never used pace so could be brilliant for 2 or 3 seasons yet

Fulham, West Brom, Swansea and Norwich all finished within 5 points of Liverpool (all without Agger). Are Skrtel, Coates and Carragher all really so awful that you'll plummet down the league without Agger? (ok Carragher might be :p).

I'm with Baz, the potential upside for outweighs the drawback. It could go wrong, but if Liverpool can get £27m for Agger (and invest it wisely) it's a relatively low risk move.

If we score no goals again, yes. I can't see that happening, was a very freak season. Also be interesting if BR can beat the small teams, as we can give any big team a game at their place and usually out play them at ours. (Although we've been pussys vs City past 2 years and not great at Old Trafford either.)

Lot of talk (by various people on twitter) that Angelo Henriquez has had his medical and will be announced officially as a United player today and that a deal has finally be agreed with Arsenal for RVP

We're looking like we'll be a bit stacked up top! I assume we need to let Berbatov/Macheda leave now and possibly send Henriquez back out on loan.

Ah the Mexican striker? Is he not from the same club we bought Chicarito from? I read earlier this year that we had an option on him. I think it was thought that we'd buy him within the year and let him stay in Mexico for a year.

If AH does actually move to OT AND we get RVP then I guess Berba will definitely go and probably Macheda was well.

He's Chilean we've been strongly linked for a while. Something about agreeing n option to buy price a few years back which the club selling was no longer happy with.

Henriquez is a Chilean striker, not Mexican. He plays for Universidad de Chile.

Yesterday it was reported everywhere that City were signing him and doing the deal from 'under our nose'.

We've had an 'option' on him for quite a while and it runs out in a year or so I believe and there was rumoured to be interest from a lot of other clubs so it seems we've done the deal now.

Apparently the medical is complete and finished about half hour or so ago according to various people on twitter.

Berbatov will be leaving regardless I think, Fergie won't play him and there will be teams after him. I'd be very surprised if he stayed.

I think Henriquez is probably going back to Chile on loan, he wouldn't be featuring in the first team.

Which leaves RvP, and pretty much everything is pointing to a deal being agreed, that will be completed hopefully on Thursday, worth roughly £22m.

If we sign RVP for £22million I seriously hope the people that have been wanting us to spend money, moaning about the Glazers, Fergie not wanting to buy etc are happy.

I just hope it doesn't happen.

Ah yes Chilean. Learning to read is on my list of things to do this summer. :D

So we agreed the option a while ago and the club more recently weren't happy with it? Thus we've, supposedly, had to bring forward his signing to stop his current club trying to find another club to sell him to?

So either Utd or City then.

I'm surprised Berbatov hasn't left yet. Can't see why Fergie hasn't got rid of him this summer even if just to save on the wage bill.

And makes sense about Henriquez signing for us but going out on loan somewhere. :)
