Final Fantasy 7 Re-release

OH MY GOD THE BACKGROUNDS! THE BACKGROUUUUUUNDS!!

Just as I feared.

I'm still gonna buy it though, I just want a damn working PC version without having to to go through so much hassle to get it working like the original.

Hows the ****y MIDI music? :p

Indeed, but maybe with the new optimization, maybe they might be able to push it a bit further. Most of the graphics enhancements that I tried( many years ago) were pretty useless tbh. At least it might generate a bit more interest in it as well.

Same for me, they never tend to work properly whenever I tried them.

It either doesn't work at all, or it does, but I get other weird problems like black squares and ghostly texture oddities.

Everything but the pre-rendered background are fine, thought with aspect ration on or off you get a black bar at the bottom

I was about to say "What a half arsed effort".
Half seems too much of an exageration!

What a shame they made such a naff effort.

Indeed!

But at least it looks like it works out of the box unlike the original version if you try to run it on modern PCs. So much faffing about just to get it working for most people.

I've just installed it an a single CodeC pack and the 1.02 patch got it working fine. Going to install a load of mods to compare to the New version :D.

Yeah £7.99 for an easy to use 1920x1080 and the 360 pad working out of the box. Also no install hassles. I am happy, but would have preferred to have paid £5 tbh.

I'll be about 10ft away from my monitor with a 360 pad anyway, so the low res bgs shouldn't be too bad! Just waiting for the Steam version (FFVII would be nice too Squeenix ;)).

Even though the backgrounds still look hash the game seems to be running really smooth on that stream, and the character models look a bit better in the battles I think? ;o

Edit: Also they have optimized all the battle menus etc with HD text which looks nice! Seems they may have done a little more work then it first appeared.

And the battle swirl still looks like ****! What the hell!

I remember back in the days of my first PC with a Pentium and Voodoo 3 graphics card, the battle swirl looked as close as it did like the original PSOne version, but these days, the hell.

I also notice in the PC version, old and new, the menu animation effects just aren't as smooth too.

Might be a minor thing for some people, but still! :p
