hi ive had my i7 930 running at 4.2ghz for over 2 years, everthing was stableuntil 2weeks ago when as soon as i started a game up it would reboot, was getting bluescreen 116,surfin the internet was fine but as soon as i fired up a game it crashed, after many tests i found the problem was not enough ioh voltage,i had always had it at 1.20 and it was fine, now unless i leave it on auto my pc will crash, dont understand why it now needs a lot more voltage when it was fine for 2years at 1.20,could it be my mobo is on its way out?any help would be great guys..

Possible component degradation (would guess the caps) on the motherboard yes. Tried resetting the BIOS and reinputting the values? Sometimes BIOSes go funky for no reason whatsoever.

Should have said i updated my mobo to the latest. Bios and did a fresh install of win7 but still getting crashes unless i leave the ioh on auto or reset the. Bios to defaults, was wondering if it could be 950w psu. Ive got a spare corsair psu but its hassle swaping the old one out, i thought it was the psu because of the way it crashed asoon as i started any game, the only way is to up the ioh.i even tryed upping it from 1.20 which has always been stable to 1.30 and it still crashed so what do u think the problem is guys...

Put it back to stock, test for several days, then up the overclock again.

Have you checked the temps? It's very warm atm and it's not uncommon for a completely stable clock to become unstable as the chip gets hotter.

done that already, was still getting crashes at stock after fresh install win and bios update,im pretty sure its stable if i increase the ioh,im going to increase the ioh to 1.35,i wanna find out how much i need to up the ioh before its stable, bbut there is defo something wrong here, the ioh was stable at 1.20 a few weeks ago and now it needs atleast 1.35 or more?

In my experience as in pushing your system very hard I see this error when the memory has become unstable more than anything else.

I would check your memory with memtest to be sure.

update:checked memory with win7 tool, all fine so i wanted to see how much ioh voltage i now needed to be stable so i tryed 1.30 then 1.35 then all the way up to 1.60,still crashed when i started a game up,the max ioh is 1.75 so quite surprised it crashed with 1.60,if i leave it on auto my games startup fine, when i leave it on auto is there a way to see how much ioh voltage im actually useing, this is really doing my head in,this pc has been solid for 2 years and the ioh was fine at stock 1.10 until 2months ago so i bumped it up to 1.20 and it was fine for a few weeks, now its unstable again and wanting a lot more volts for some reason, ive tryed updateing my bios plus a fresh install win7,any help would be great guys
