Hello everyone

im wanting to build a gaming rig. this is the first time i will be the first time i will be building a pc from scratch. iv always wanted to have a dream pc ever since i was young (im 21).

however i have been looking around but im not too sure which company to trust, which case to get, what size. All i really it for is to plays for bf3.

like the only thing i need though is for the case to be blue/red and for it to be see through, its to kind of show off my pc to anyone who looks at it.

again i appreciate for anyone who wants to chip in and help me out.

Thats a build it yourself by the way, are you wanting to build it yourself? You would also need to get an operating system for that, so by either putting Windows 8 on Doomedspeed's build or buying Windows 7. If you got a pre-build from Overclockers with Windows 7 you get a free upgrade to Windows 8 when it is released.

If you didn't want to build it yourself I'd go for something like this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x "Titan 8800i Photon" Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40GHz @ 4.50GHz DDR3 Ivybridge System £560
1 x Intel 330 Series 180GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £139.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case - Black £59.99
1 x Networking Not Selected £0
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
1 x No Sound Card Upgrade £0
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit - OEM (FQC-04649) £119.99
1 x System 12 Months Standard Warranty £0
1 x Opt Out of FREE AV Software £1.26
1 x Iiyama ProLite E2409HDS 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black £139.99
1 x TT eSports MEKA Mechanical Gaming Keyboard £64.99
1 x Creative A320 2.1 Speakers (51MF0405AA003) £32.99
1 x Steelseries Ikari Optical Mouse (62000) £15.98
Total : £1,481.40 (includes shipping : £21.85).

However it is easy to build yourself one and you will get better value for money, if you just want the ease of having it pre-built then I think this would be perfect for your needs.

Edit: you can choose a more flashy case if you wanted to :D

im sorry guys the graphics card is the one thing im having trouble with. which one should i go for in the £1500 setup. the things that i dont need to get is the keyboard, pad, mouse, monitor. i might need to get a trustworthy sound system and headphones with mic.

thanks a lot for all the help. i will be ordering shortly.
hopefully i can post some photos with updates on the rig

ok what is the difference between the 670 and the 680?? im sorry yes i am a noob at this lol

Around a 5% performance difference I believe. However a large price difference.

One of the bog standard 670's costs mid £200's and a 680 into the £400's. SLI 670's will only cost like £100 more or something.

^ this really, you have a 1080p screen as well, the 2/4gb 670's will eat everything up. Save yourself some cash and when the time comes that the gpu cant handle games, you just swap it out.

hey i would like to make a slight adjustment. i really enjoy the 50 quid case however i would like to splash out abit. rougly 150 tops, have a blue led, see-through case and just show off

Appears the 670's have inflated quite a bit in price. Still around £150 cheaper than the majority of 680's though.

Expect closer to £300 GPU now. Might be worth going with some of the 7970's. Totally depends on your setup i'd say.

Nvidia = less VRAM (unless you pay more), better drivers and comparable speeds overall. Nvidia 670's that is.
AMD = More VRAM, similar speeds, nice overclocking headroom but worse drivers. Very capable card.

What it boils down to is the future i'd say. I prefer more VRAM for making SLI/Crossfire still worthwhile in the future. 2gb is fine now, plenty. However there will come a point where it isn't. That point may be when adding your second GPU is worthwhile but then you are VRAM limited thus making the SLI not worth your time.

3d eats VRAM. If what intel wants to happen does (the really high res monitors) then VRAM again could be an issue.

what is VRAM? i mean i could always go for the sli 670s 2gb but dont you need to have a program or set up the graphics card is some special way? or can you just put the 2 graphics cards on the motherboard then put them inside the case and when you load up the desktop the computer will automatically regisister that it has 2 graphics cards inisde
