Title says it folks, i have trouble saving my money, im always ordering food, going out with my mates, always "treating" my mates to food but the never treat me lol.

I just want advice/know how do you handle your finances.

For e.g if i plan to buy something from the city centre i always end up buying stuff that i dont need.

I live within my means, i make good money though so my means are better than average :p The only thing i ever took finance for is a mortgage and i've made a deal with myself that that is the only thing i'll ever 'owe' anyone.

I read "The richest man in Babylon" by George Samuel Clayson - changed my attitude to money forever.

If you want to save money, make a spreadsheet with your essentials etc and work out what you can cut down on.
One idea might be instead of drinking at the pub, have a few drinks before you go out ( which will be cheaper). Or have a look on those comparison websites and see if you can save money on utilities

Stop doing all of this, it'll most likely help your fiscal situation.

have you ever seen a tv in a shop for £500 and thought 'i'd like that', but not purchased it but instead, gone home had a think/look around your house or room and see what you don't use or need anymore and stuck it on ebay to raise all or a large chunk of the money for the tv?

try it.

I have the will power and control to live within my means. Depends on your priorities too though.

Generally I never carry cash and don't buy things on a whim, I give it a day or two to consider if I really need/want whatever it is.

Don't buy anything. Live on the streets, eat natural food sources, drink tap water and get showered at work.

It's simple really, only buy what you need, go out less. Spend your time instead of your money, for example, spend an hour cooking rather than £20 on takeaway.

How do I save my money? If I see it drowning in a river, I jump in and rescue it. If I see it falling from height, I catch it. If it gets captured by a megalomaniac bald guy living in a volcano, I pull off a daring rescue.

That's how I save money.

After I've paid for mortgage, Sky, car finance, car insurance, electricity, council tax, ground rent, gym, petrol, tv license, house insurance I put the rest into savings.

It's depressingly little.

I actually have a spreadsheet which shows all the money i own across my ISAs etc and shows how much money i can spend each month depending on my wage that month.
