This is reddit island

They need a better selection of islands. I would suggest somewhere in the USA or Canada.

Whilst somewhere tropical sounds cool, there is a ridiculous amount of effort to get even basic infrastructure sorted.
 
I don't really know reddit either. Who are its target readers/writers. Is it for niche weirdos or can anyone join in?

What defines a Reddit groupie over a similar yet blander type of Freakshow ?

Lol at anyone that slates Reddit. No doubt you be only read the default sub reddits which is kinda like a mixture of GD and YouTube comments and then some. However the vast majority of smaller subreddits (of which there is one for virtually everything) are brilliant and full of useful info and intelligent discussions.
 
I'd rather see 4chan buy the roughest part of the worlds most dangerous favela and paint all the shacks to match ponies and then populate it with trannies -- the rest of the favela can supply the gore.

This. It's like individual forums on the topic you have a interest in. 4chan has set discussion boards. Reddit does not and each subreddit has moderators. I suggest everyone check it out. But it doesn't open up until you create an account and subscribe to some subreddits.
