Looking for a new family car and these come up all the time when people ask for recommendations.

Looking for a 05-08 plate I have read there is a common fault with the DMF and then the clutch would also need replacing too.

Looking for a diesel but would like some toys so either the Ghia Model or the Titanium.

So anyone have one, are you happy with it? what are faults did you have that i should be made aware of?

Thanks

I've got a 53 plate TDCi, the only faults i've had have all been suspension related, things like droplinks, ARB bushes & rear wheel bearings like to go.

I've had no clutch, dmf or injector issues and we use the car for towing too. I'll have had the car 2 years very soon and it's been nice, cheap & trouble free. :-)

I've got a 55 plate ST TDCI that I've had since March 2011. I've done about 33k miles in it and it's been pretty good. Only issue I had was a flashing glow plug light which was fixed by cleaning the EGR valve.

They do come with the possibility of large bills though :-(

I've put 75k on my ST TDCi since 2005.

It had a set of injectors under warranty - but that was down to a known issue with the early 2.2 engine calibration.

I've replaced a faulty door lock motor for £25 and it needed a new exhaust earlier this year, but other than that I've just serviced it and put fuel in it - and it's averaged 45mpg.

The 2.2 engines seem to give more trouble than the 2.0.

Facelift Mk3 2.0 TDCi 130's are actually pretty reliable cars. Yes - you hear of problems, but you have to remember Ford sold these in vast numbers. Avoid low mileage cars that have been run round town a lot of the time.

What kind of price are you thinking? As 05-08 covers both Mk3 and Mk4 mondeos. The engines are generally more reliable in the Mk4 and A lot more refined.

What kind of mileage are you going to do? As of it's relatively low you can just get a nice reliable 2.0 petrol and not have to worry about the horrid noise!

This! My dad has a 2.0 petrol and it is so, so much nicer to drive than my TDCi, i just do too many miles or i'd have a petrol instead.

I did 30k in an 06 mondeo tdci, bought it with 105k on clock had 0 problems at all just serviced it when needed and drove the thing, would recommend one to anyone

you can have mine!! Currently driving an 06 Panther Black 2.2 Titanium X, 2nd owner and had it from 9 month old.

The car i had before that was a 52 plate 2.0 panther black Titanium X.

I am currently looking for about a 2 year old 2.0 panther black Titanium X.

Sad, but i know where i stand with these cars and as well as having a nice spec, are a very nice car to drive.

Current one has had no issues until recently :( The car is stuttering between 1 - 2 revs, but no warning lights! Called Ford who say it is most likely the EGR, ie needs cleaning or replacing - so i'll be getting that done before the part-ex :(

Currently has 74k miles, Full Ford Service History, recently replaced exhaust and has had a new battery fitted earlier this year - MOT'd until Jul 13.

Check your coil pack, this is a common fault with the Mondeo :)

You were replying to someone with a 2.2 Mondeo with the stuttering issue and you said check the coil pack.

U turn fail.
