Slowish puncture after new tyres being put on

So, a few weeks ago, I paid for tyres from the web, job done. Really good tyres, all 4.

Went to a local indy, got them to place the tyres on and balance for £50.

Anyway, ever since I have been on these tyres, the front drivers side is losing roughly 10psi a week. So not a quick rate, but not slow either.

I pumped it up to a specific psi last night (which I have a question about, I put them up to 32psi... Too much? Whats the norm for fast road use?) and I will wait until next wednesday to see what's what.

Who am I going to complain to here? The garage or the tyre supplier? Either way, I have no proof of the fault originating since new. So both will say I have picked something up which has caused this.

If that's the case, what is the procedure here? Will they be able to plug it? Or will I need a new tyre?

Sounds like it's leaking around the seal, they'll need to take the tyre off, give the inside of the alloy a rub down and put it back on, should be fine after that, I had the same thing once, except my tyre went down completely in a single night, just the way it was parked.

Ah yes, they were VERY messy with the glue, the walls on the tyres was covered with it, still some of it left on the tyres now. Slowly coming off...

Ok, will mention it to them today on the phone, they were a really nice garage actually. So should at least meet me half way :)

Meet you half way? No, they can do the job they were paid for in the first place (unless you've picked up nail that is)

Alloy or steel rim? Alloy stuff can go porous over time, the masses of tyre soap they slapped over it was intended to sort that problem, but the rim can sometimes need scrubbing with a wire brush before the tyre is fitted to give the soap a fresh surface to work with.

As above they didn't prep your wheels properly before fitting the tyres so they should now do the job properly & the original payment covers that. If the wheels are in a poor state they should rub them down then apply a thick black glue type sealer stuff. Pro description there. :p

I take it you have sprayed the tyre with a weak washing up liquid solution to find where the pressure is escaping from.

Haha, cheers guys :)

Will give them a ring tomorrow and go round then.

Just go round and ask them to fix it, alloy wheels corrode on the bead seat and unless it is cleaned properly they will leak sooner or later.

Depends on the car. Check the manual in the glovebox. It may also be printed on a sticker in the door.
