Then you are on 60mbps

Turns out its my router (WRT54GL running tomato 1.21) If i connect to the superhub I get 40mbs but through the router I get 10mbs.

Does anyone have any good guides on setting up the WRT54GL? I want to use this as it already has all my port forwarding info and all my wireless gadgets are set up securely on it.

I think he means the power levels won't be causing you any concern.

Oh, it sounded like he was saying 'they won't be' in response to me saying 'but they'll be adjusted'. So if they do adjust them lower, then presumably the hub will run cooler?

Nah it'll be fine. My pings are back down to 22 on maidenhead game servers and my download speeds on speed test sites are back up, in fact I got my highest ever this morning of 68824kbps for my 60mb/s connection. And that's with high power levels, so tbh I can't really see that these power levels are causing me any real concern, but they'll be adjusted and I'll let you know what the engineer says.

My power levels when I had the SuperHub were over 15 (they also flickered) and when I got a modem and router back in and using it they lowered down to 7 and 8. It really confuses me. I could get some pictures of them and results from past VM posts.

Here they are:

(Sorry if hard to read; I'm using copy and paste). It is tabled on the website, but there's the first.

One time they were as high as 18, but I can't seem to find that one. Anyone notice anything strange?

I am looking through my previous postings on the VM Forum.

Edit:

I have found another one. Here it is:

Any ideas?

Everything look fine mate to be honest.

There are a few spikes in usage but nothing that should cause any issues and that would most likely be because of the school holidays

Im not trained in using all the software though so cant do too much digging.

Utilisation is OK and all KPI's are well within the acceptable levels. Your area is actually a lot better than mine is and i never have any speed issues so its very odd

Cheers mate, didn't see your update there :) What sort of speeds are you getting on the namesco server around this time then? (out of interest)

had my self instal hub arrive today. Obviously a doddle to setup and connect.

straight into modem mode and onto speedtest has given me this.

if i connect to the Birmingham server it only returns a max of 60mbps!

Alwinchurch, when will my upload change to 10mbps?

I normally get 80mbps+ at any point of the day. Oddly enough im ranging between 40mbps and 60mbps tonight but i tried a usenet download and it never dropped below 11MBps

How bizarre??

It wont be until the hardware upgrades have been done to allow channel bonding

If the VM guy tries to fit a attenuator tell him you want the job done right i.e by a real network tech.
