The BIOS for the MB is version F2.

According t the Gigabyte webpage version F9B is available:

How risky is it updating the BIOS?

Is it worth doing in this case?

Cheers.

If it was me, I would do it, there seems to be a number of fixes and improvements.

But theres also the old motto of "if it ain't broke........don't fix it"

As for the risks, well your board has DualBIOS chips so the risks are significantly reduced.

you will need to use @BIOS for larger bios files due to qflash not being able to flash large bios files, once updated however it will also update qflash and you can go back to using it

Sure about that?

The BIOS chip capacity remains the same so the BIOS file should be made to fit it, even the Gigabyte forum say to use Qflash - http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=8655.0

yeah pretty sure, larger bios files need @BIOS for a one off flash, then you can go back to using qflash

It is also highly recommend that you use q-flash for all flashing. But there are always exceptions to the rules. When gigabyte added 3tb hdd support the file size of the bios changed from 1.0MB to 2.0MB. Q-flash does not like the file size change. This is where you need to use @BIOS.

Have you seen the BIOS file sizes for that board?

They are all like 0.69 - 0.74MB

nope, idk if there smaller for amd,i just mentioned it incase he couldnt flash with qflash, that would be the reason why

Look at the link for the BIOS page, the sizes are all listed, I also cant see anything about 3TB+ support in any of the descriptions.

Is it working? If it is, leave it. If not, update it. Even Giabyte say only update if you're having issues.

Thanks for all the feedback. As the quotd poster and a couple of others have indicated - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So I decided not to update the BIOS.

I always keep my GPU drivers slavishly up-to-date - but the rest I just don't bother with. Thought I'd check if I needed to update any others.
