How to find out my car's exact colour ?

Hi all,

I'm looking to sell my car in the non too distant future and am interested in picking up a couple of things to repair on it before selling, one of them being the near side rear door. I think my car is 'moon dust silver' but I'm not sure.

I want to get the right colour door so how would I go about finding out for sure?

Check where your car has its paint code printed.

Nomally printed on the door jamb and sometimes in the boot well / engine bay - the format depends on manufacturer, a quick google should tell you

The paint code will allow pretty much anyone to mix the right colour for you.

It's a Ford, the paint code should be on the chassis plate under the bonnet, think the code for Moondust is '6' it should be the 5th box down on the plate.

ok thanks guys, my next question is how easy is it to replace the door ?

All you really need is a spare trolley jack, some 2" x 2" a socket set and maybe a screwdriver.

Easier job with 2 people but perfectly doable yourself.

If you ask VW nicely they tell you if you give them your reg... I expect that Ford would do the same.

For the avoidance of any doubt just ring Ford with your VIN (lower right of the windscreen when viewed from outside the vehicle)
