Was there a transfer fee for Green?

You'd imagine so. The word was that Salford got £30k for buying out the remainder of Matty Smiths contract. £80k is being bandied about on the Wigan forums, but that could be complete cobblers. You have to take into account the wedge that HKR now don't have to fork out for the remaining 2 years.

Wigna are now moving from Leuluai/Finch to Smith/Green as their half backs. There's going to be a further dip in SL standards until clubs start to develop some British halves. Wigan have a couple coming through (Powell/Hampshire), how's it looking at the other clubs? Hampshire is more of a runner than a classic playmaker (a la Danny McGuire). He's looking good in the videos coming through from the Academy tour.

Rovers academy system is still in its infancy and we have some great young centres, front rowers and a great all rounder called Dave Peterson but our young half backs haven't really developed.

Rumour is that Neil Hudgell (KR chairman) and Adam Pearson (FC chairman) are looking soon at merging both of our academies in order to cut the running costs and then employing some sort of draft system for those that have the potential first team performances in them. It's a good idea in principle, I just hope it works and is fair to both clubs.

London is on fire tonight!

Wire were understandably understrength, but even so, a pretty amazing win for the Broncos. I have to say though, what a poor crowd! 2200 odd. I didn't realise attendances were THAT poor, there wasn't even a quarter of a start worth of Bronco fans. Even Cru-Cru-Crusaders had more fans and were more lively than that!

In other news, the new stand is now fully progressing with piling well on the wall so maybe next year away supporters will have somewhere decent to be for away games, and to be honest, its about time!!!

It's pretty bad for the Wire fans who went. We (Widnes) could have really done with Wire beating London. I think in the interest of fairness, you should field the same squad for our derby game on the last day of the season ;)

To add to that, Shaun Briscoes try was the weirdist try I've ever seen!

I thought he'd dropped it until I saw the video ref. Amazing work haha.

Win against Wakey, then Wire = job done? Never know, it could happen! It's definitely nice to be battling against another two teams for bottom rather than the predictions from people at the start of the season.

Nah, I shall certainly be watching it though.

Rovers season is effectively over now. A very disappointing year, that started with so much promise but quickly descended into one of our worst seasons since our promotion year and a far cry from when we finished fourth.

I will say this though:

Apart from 1 game, the last 7 games which we have lost, we have lost by a margin of 8 points or less, the majority less than 4 points. If we could have won them, then we would have gone to 4th.

Such are the margins of victory and defeat in shaping your season.

Went to Wigan v Salford last night. Wigan were off the pace all night, but Salford were very poor. They got stuck in, but really looked clueless. If the game had been on the TV I would have turned over. It's a bit depressing for SL that Wigan were so ordinary but were never in any danger at all. Unless something clicks very quickly at Wigan they are going to last until the second week of the play offs

That's the challenge now for Warrington. Wigan's season unravelled from being 16-0 up in last year's CC Final. I think Tony Smith has done a good job of managing the fitness of his best players (quite a few the wrong side of 30). They should have been in the GF last year and I don't think they'll mess it up this year. Not that I agree with rotating the squad - I think it just devalues the regular season games. It p's me off when pay to go to a game and a team has clearly decided not to put their best team out. Wigan did it against Widnes (and got caught out), so its not me pointing the finger against other clubs.

A decent game at last! Pity about the result, but the first full on, competitive game I've seen since Leeds v Wigan in the CC Semi final.

3 games for McIlorum I reckon. Should be 4, but I reckon they'll take into account how much of this game he missed. They keep saying he's an old school, aggressive hooker, but it's not 1982 now and you can't get away with that rubbish

It was a brutal high shot.

Gotta say, Hull KR - Wigan game was a brilliant game, shame about the result, for Rovers but the Wigan fans were great!

Great feedback from the Wigan fans about the game here and about how they had a good time at Rovers:

I must say though, its a rubbish view from that south stand, but with the North stand well on the way, the situation should massively improve.

Wigan got a well deserved round of applause from the Rovers fans at the end and a sad farewell to Ben Galea, who is rumoured to be signing for FC.
