Hey guys,

Looking for a car, as i travel to work by train it will be mostly weekend driving so fuel costs really are not important, really looking for something that can fit 4 aduilts with a good sized boot,

Nothing really over 8 years old, must have AC, any ideas? was thinking about maybe a jag of some kind?

OP is vague, so will get the usual answer

Mondeo.

As a weekend only car where fuel costs aren't a concern?

The OP isn't that vague.

I'd probably look at something a bit daft, with a 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder engine.

Maybe an e46 330ci coupe or even convertible.

Ok, you've got to give more detail than that about what you want, not just "must have A/C and nothing over 8 years old".

We could recommend almost anything with that brief. Does it need to be comfortable? Big? Fast? Good looking? Sporty? Loud? Subtle?

Sorry, well the problem is im not really sure what i want, it will be many for visting friends, some 2-3 hour drives up to cambridge a couple of times a year,

Not looking for a convertible, used to have a m3 convertible and really didnt like the roof being down,

Big would be good, but nothing like a 4x4.

I presume since you had an M3, you are at least a little bit into your cars? You must have seen *something* you like, even just a manufacturer? Most people have some kind of preference, like saying they like Audi's aethestics, or BMW's driving style or Ford's value for money and low running costs etc etc.

Maybe just an A6 2.0T or something like that as a start point?

Octavia VRS? Only suggesting that as i have just bought one :p. Good size, massive boot, quick e.t.c

Could probably get a nice face lift one for the upper end of your budget.

OP hasn't said he wants a big engine with plenty of power though, you are reading between the lines.

I would like something with a bit of power, was looking at an EVO but Its a bit boyracerish, really after something comfortable.

Thanks for the advice guys but after driving a mates Audi rs4 I think I'm going to up my budget and get one of them, :-)

For a guy who initially had 8-10k for a spec me thread, then to go buy a RS4 is well..quite something.

Can you please make a thread when you purchase it?

And another when it cripples you financially because you tried to running on a shoestring budget - Chinese tyres, coilovers etc...
