OK so the 660's are finally here and are almost comarable to the 670's.

Now currently the most expensive 660 on Overclockers is £281.99 and the cheapest 670 is £299.99. Granted the 660 is a 3Gig model but is it not worth putting and extra £18 toward the 670?

Discuss... :)

IMO it is worth the extra for the 670. 660 seems around 10% slower and takes a bigger hit when you increase resolution or add AA, which I expect to be able to use on a £250 graphics card.

Also over clocking on the 660ti seems really poor, no headroom whatsoever in many cases.

Thats wht I thought, always pays to check the experts though...

As a side thought, why, given the price, have we had to wait so long for what everyone thought was going to be the sweet spot for pricing and performance...

Yeh the 660Ti needs to just do one at this price, had it come in at the equivalent of the US price at around £220 then it would have been an amazing card, but it's just £30 too expensive thanks to the usual UK retailer price gouging. It's meant to be competing with the 7870 but the UK retailers like to see it as competition for the 7950 giving them an excuse to charge more.

But what really annoys me is that I can already see some 670's creeping up in price a little bit, so for me who is planning an upgrade any day now, the only real alternative is to grab a 7950.

The way its been yoyo-ing has been funny though, some retailers came in at around 250 and stuck there but some came in at around 235 and then raised the price when saw what others were selling for and some came in at around 250 and dropped to around 235 when they saw others selling for that, its madness atm lol.

GTX 670, better card by a significant amount. go get it before they jack the prices up.

If you look at most reviews closely you might be able to spot whats wrong with them, most of them are using factory overclocked cards against reference cards to make the GTX 660ti look better than it actually is. its a good reason to hike prices.

This is about the only real review there is, a couple of others but this one speaks volumes.

In the words of Hexus about the 660...' UK pricing is all wrong '

Buy a 670.

+1 660 pricing is a joke atm.

When the 660's hit £180ish then they will be nice lil cards..

In an ideal world

GTX 660ti = £180
GTX 670 = £250
GTX 680 = £320

HD 7850 = £150
HD 7870 = £175
HD 7950 = £200
HD 7970Ghz = £280

...............

Hi first post here, tho not new to oc's.I waited over 2 months before the 660 to come out before upgrading. No brainier when I saw the 660 prices.670 all the way.So that's what I got.Well least I waited :0 .My theory is nvidia have priced the 660 so to bump sales of higher end Kepler ESP the 670.Its a theory ,but I don't expect to see 660 fall in price until 670+ fall in sales.I agree it's kinda crazy but maybe coy as well.

trouble is all this generations cards are a rip off atm, given how much the 670 itself has been jacked up since release, i bought my 670 windforce near release for £310 its floating closer to £360 now, its ridiculous the prices there charging for them both right now, the 660 should be much closer to the £200 mark tbh

I agree...vc's are extorsionate ATM.
Edit:And yes had the 660 been around £200 - I would have been more tempted!

Pretty much. The only appealing card to me at the moment is a 7950. I'm still hoping they drop closer to £200 (or even less obviously) since the 660Ti's release since I'm looking at picking 2 up for some crossfire goodness.
