Somebody tell me that Daniel Day Lewis is not the best actor at work in film today...

He doesn't even look like Daniel Day Lewis...

I'm so psyched for this, it's probably going to be one of the best performances of the year.

Went to my school :)

Only actor in the world who can guarantee himself an Oscar just by putting a bit of extra effort in. So far ahead of everyone else it's ridiculous.

Also has a great nose for sniffing out a good script. Go to his wiki and check out his films from My Left Foot. His nominations and awards are completely off the chart!

Yep, Day-Lewis is a truly legendary actor. Unlike all these other rubbish actors who just play simple 'line reading' roles, Day-Lewis actually becomes his character in more ways than any other actor.

I cant wait for this, his performance in There Will Be Blood was one of the most mesmerising pieces of acting Ive ever watched.

Get out, get out right now. You need to watch Gangs of New York and There Will Be Blood. He was absolutely incredible in both, scarily good.

I don't need to watch them...I have watched them. Gangs of New York was a decent movie, good acting all round. There will be Blood was not a patch on Gangs of New York and again the acting was good, but then I would expect it to be. Neither are films I would watch over and again however.

Was he incredible?...scarily good?. How do you judge subjective performances, in both films DDL was playing DDL, there was little to discern the characters other than the situation. Method acting aside, his parts seem to be chosen to suit his strengths, a really great actor would be able to take advantage of his weaknesses to portray totally disparate characters in a range of different genres.

DDL is a great dramatic actor, but is he the best actor in the industry?....that is entirely subjective. A little like you saying that the picture above doesn't look like DDL...to my eye that is exactly who it is, albeit portraying Lincoln.

Yeah, now that you mention it, Christy Brown was Bill Cutting...

Of course it's subjective, I would never say otherwise. I just think that he is so head and shoulders above the rest that I was daring anyone to say that he wasn't, and you did. ;)

He's alright....Last of the Mohicans is one of my favourite films. But that does look like DDL in the picture, albeit as Lincoln.

Not sure I have ever heard someone say that about last of the Mohicans. It was one of my favourite films from the first time I saw it in '95ish. Had not seen it in years and recently watched in HD. The film is immense and so is Daniel Day Lewis.
