I've got tons and tons of old bills that I don't need anymore, like phone bills, electric bills, etc that I kept from years back that I want to throw away. About half a dozen black bin liners full of them. It's ok to throw them because my accountant says they're more than 6 years old. But do I need to burn them since my name and address is all over them? Or can I just take them down the local rubbish tip?

If I didn't have a shredder I'd burn that sort of stuff.

in all seriousness i would stick them in a bucket of boiling hot water and leave them to soak for a few hours, then stick them into a black bag and squeeze all the water out.

they should be almost unreadable after that aslong as you squeeze them down really right and compacted

Ok, here's a dumb question, what do I need to get to burn them in? I don't have any metal containers I can think of. Are there particular containers to buy from a hardware shop for burning things? :o

Good idea, though burning would be easier.
